What method do you use to get the small fuel filter bowl off.Apparently the ethanol expands the plastic bowl.I've done a little research, just looking for your thoughts. thanks.

When you say the bowl, are your talking about the clear plastic bowl under the filter where water accumulates and are you talking an inboard or outboard application.

With an inboard application you should not have the clear plastic bowl. With an outboard application you should/could have this bowl and if you are looking to drain this bowl, many are equipped with a pet cock valve which will allow you to drain the bowl with out removing it.

Outboard, yes clear plastic bowl that encases filter.

You should make sure and put some motor oil on the gasket between the filter and bowl before installing the bowl. That or next time you need to purchase a new filter get the type that has the pit cock valve at the bottom of the bowl.

Harbor freight has these open end adjustable filter wrenches. That's what I used to get mine off. One on the filter and one on the bowl. Its a lot easier to take it off and put it back on with the filter off the filter housing. When you reinstall make sure you use a new o-ring and just tighten my hand tight. Then run the engine and just make sure there's no leaks.

I use a rubber strap wrench.
