We have spent some time working on the Angler before CG inspection but also enjoying some winter fishing. Two weeks ago today we took a trip to Montauk for a cod trip on the VSS. It was as cold as it gets with very slow fishing and I was happy with a cod and ling avoiding the skunk many had. We were a few days late as they had two days of good fishing.
Last week I fished with with my son in law Jeff on his boat from PPB and did much better. On Thursday I had 3 keeper cod and 350 less miles than the week before. On Sunday the cod fishing was much slower but the ling took up the slack. If you put on smaller hooks and bait or gulp you were rewarded. Many guys were in dbl digits with close to 200 ling on board. This was some of the best ling fishing that I have seen this winter.
The weather has been tough this week but Saturday is looking nice with no wind to speak of and i am going tile fishing. Good luck to all and the Angler will be sailing in early April. Thanks captain George
