Thinking about going cod/ling fishing tomorrow as the weather and seas look pretty good. Any idea on how to fishing has been? Haven't made a final decision on a boat yet.

crappy. If you can head north at all...even to RI you have a better shot at the cod. Ling has been awful this winter. But if you like doggies and eels stay local! I enjoy the J2 btw...good capts and fun hardworking mates.

I am happy for you guys that can actually think about heading out fishing.. As for me, I am too concerned about freezing my nuts off ...
It was 20 below zero this morning at my place at 6 am... By the time I arrived at work in Ithaca next to the big lake [Cayuga], it was a toasty -12!

Seriously, I miss NJ.. I know its cold there too,and you are having a hard winter, but this -20 shit has got to stop...

I feel bad for the head boats in this weather, not many guys ready to deal with this type of weather to catch a few ling and some eels and pups.... bob

Local fishing is not particularly good, but it is not quite as grim as indicated in this thread. J ii has been picking away at some cod. You stand a decent chance of catching dinner.

J2 will find something to bite! Send the clam, squid or gulp to the bottom and be persistent and you will catch dinner!
