Want to hit up the valley this weekend and fish from shore, can anyone tell me how the ice is on the main lake, is it fishable from shore?

Thanks

No ice. Fished it last Saturday. There was some broken chunks floating around making a few areas of the shoreline really tough to fish. But I assume that only affected a small portion of the accessible shoreline.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

I have yet to pull a trout out of that lake - just bass and pickerel in the pond next to the main lake. Its a tuff body of water.

Medium and large shiners on slips will produce from shore. Some have been doing well on powerbait, too.

Hit the east shore yesterday from 12:30 to 3:00 with my pops. I got a 15 inch brown and he got a nice 20-21 inch laker on a black gold and orange x-rap countdown.

Fished there yesterday afternoon, Not sure if i was going based on the wind prediction and finally headed up in the afternoon about 1sh and fished till 4.
Stayed around the launch areas moving three times in search of a few bites but expectations were not too high since we saw about about 10 different anglers come and go in the time we fished and didn't see anybody catch either. Only action was a nice rainbow that jumped in the cove where we fishing.
We fished four rods with slips at various depths and shiners and powerbait on the bottom also.

Was still glad to get out for a few hours with my daughter.:):):)

hit there this evening with the kid, no luck, too...fished from 4:45 to 7:00, not a hit...started by kayak launch, then moved to the point just past the rock wall...wind was bad by the kayak launch, but tolerable on the other side....still 0fer on the trout there :(

110% that its a brown....It is not uncommon for still water trout to be more silvery than there river brows...I have found that diet ,water clarity, and deeper depths that fish holds in to have a direct effect on there coloring and appearence....Fresh river stockies will also be quite silver....

Search around for ontario browns for instance, and see how silvey they tend to be...I've caught large lake dwellin browns in jersey that feed almost exclusively on herring and are VERY silvery....And tatste like shit do to oily forage base....

Nice fish ID chart!!! I've never seen that particular one

def a brown, the color is similar to a landlock BUT the forked tail is way easier to spot, its like a flying V guitar, that tail is a brown trout, they get very silvery esp in the colder water
