Will be doing a fishing trip in Sarasota/Venice FL area on May 12th w/ Capt Joe Miller if anyone will be down there or wants to go and get in on some awesome fishing. Currently have 3 spots open-$200/pp for all day fishing. I know a few of you have fished with the Capt from here with great results as well. PM me if interested.

Here's a sample of the fishing/catching done with Capt Joe. This is from 2012 when we were field testing my bucktails.

And this doesn't even represent all the other Grouper (at least 50 more fish) that were out of season that we had to throw back....

While down stop here to eat. Best grouper sandwich plus a great view on the water. When I would visit inlaws this was always the first stop.
No frills kind of place.
You can also fun fish the pier, loaded with sheephead

Didn't know that there was a fire there. Its been a while since I have been down that way. It was such a cool no frills place with great food. Napkins were paper towels that hung from the ceiling on cloths hangers from a rope over all of the tables. The crew wore hospital scrubs with fish prints on them.
Great food, beer, and a great view.
This was by the Ex in laws. I now frequent Naples by the new in laws. Lol.
Hope it gets or is re build when you are down there.
Good luck, have fun.

my offshore fishing buddy moved to Venice and I got to fish with Capt Joe in 2012. We fished about 70 miles offshore and had a limit of grouper and a bunch of other bottom dwellers. Good times

70 miles seems like a long ride just to catch some grouper.

Capt is a commercial fisherman also. Trips usually run 40-60 off but he goes the distance to put the trip on fish and not afraid to burn some fuel. Boat is fast....Don't forget the Gulf doesn't drop off that deep until further out so you're still in the 100-150ft range in spots

Bigadam- I once ran 60 miles in the Gulf and was only in 60 feet of water, lots of grouper though !:)

it was a full day, with live bait catching at sunlight at the inlet. definitely worth the ride for the production that day
i took a party boat last minute just south of Venice this year, they fished 25 miles off. needless to say, the bite was not the same
my buddy had previously fished with Joe and they went 80 off and it was the best trip of his life, so I wouldn't be too critical
