For all but participation by Sponser PB / Charter Boats and Bail &Tackle stores will greatly help the impact. Goal is to provide reality to fight the "flawed" Landing numbers for 2013 on all species

Gerry,
Yes and Yes. The more participation the better.
I believe the more impactful information has to come from the Party, Charter Boats and Marina's / Bait and Tackle stores so hopefully those sponsors will chime in.
Not sure where it will go as it should be OBVIOUS but may be useful at Mondays meeting and another wake-up call to our elected ones here in Jersey who swore they were going to pay attention to NJ economy after the storm. Allowing shut downs or decreasing our fisheries in NJ is NOT paying attention.

Due to the aftermath of Sandy, my dock was destroyed, I totally lost the first 2 months of the season before my boat was in the water. Next came the wind and cold water, did not waste the money for just a boat ride.

Early in the season participation was WAY down. Hell, Atlantic Highlands didn't even complete rebuilding the harbor until late July I think and even then there were empty slips. The waiting list for a slip used to be years long, not anymore.
Opening day fluke was the fewest amount of boats I've ever seen in Sandy Hook/Raritan Bay for what's normally a parking lot situation.
How these bozos think we over fished fluke is beyond me.

In the same boat as most have commented here. Due to the condition of our Marina, we were not able to get our boat into it's slip until June 1. We usually start fishing in April so we lost April and May.

Opening day fluke and the following 6 weeks was a complete waste of time, money, fuel and bait. Waters off Monmouth & Ocean Counties were ice cold, as evident of the numerous Ling, Squirrel Hake & Fourspot Flounder we caught while bucktailing Fluke. The handful of Fluke we caught during that period of time were all in the 15-16" bracket, and were as cold as winter bottom fish, much less to the fact that they didn't even put up a fight. It was a season I pray never to see again in my lifetime!!!! And everytime I see these numbers reports, I inch closer & closer to making my own rules.......Beginning to think I'm being ruled by a communist government!

We really aren't that far off that assessment.. However, thats the way society is headed.. Its what we demand as a nation, and in our respective states, you in NJ, and me in NY.. We get and deserve the leaders we elect... Its hard to swallow for some of us, but try and keep in mind, we are getting precisely what we demand... bob

AH was a mess well into Fluke season, and among other things there was lots of hostility from the sea streak folks. Didn't really make you want to come down and deal with it

Here is a simple survey with 771 views and only 39 people voted. This why the RFA and all the other groups are not going to be able to HELP US. How very sad it is
Remember when it is shut down how you stood in the back ground.

Thanks for doing this Dave. Great reply Richie !!
One thing to keep in mind, though - - 2012 end-of-season fishery was cut short by Sandy. I did not get out at all late last season for Stripers and Tog. Hope the powers that be understand the trends though

Larry As the post stated it is to provide info on the.
( Goal is to provide reality to fight the "flawed" Landing numbers for 2013 copied from the post)
This is more to show how many people did not get out as much as they use to. It is not only about revenue lost in the season but time spent while being fishing.
This Poll does not collect any personal info so why not HELP, Dave be thanks for being there.

I think part of the issue is although people can view this, they can not complete the poll unless they are registered and have an ID here. Even so we should have way more people who are registered here responding to this poll.
Come on guys.. If you are a registered member here please respond to the poll and if you know any registered members bring this pole the their attention and encourage them to participate.
Thanks.

Usually start fishing in April. Did not have boat in water ready to roll until June due to damage from storm.

Just over 1100 views, just over 50 votes. Boils downs to about 5% participation. That's just about the number of fishermen that showed up in Washington a few years ago. It's kind of hard to win any kind of support with that kind of turnout................PATHETIC

I definitely had a worse season than last year and some of it is due to sandy. Some of the early season fluke spots I hit were very different in the way they felt on the bottom. Also the "holes" we fished last year were much shallower. As for Canal fishing the spots I fish were completely filled in, the ledges that I used to get hung up on were flat  that's a noshitter. so the storm did effect my tally in a negative way no doubt! Not to mention the late start because of all the destruction. Good poll!

We were up, but it was also due to new customers who had lost their boats due to Sandy and the fact that some of the marinas in the spring were unable to open until mid summer.

We were way down 2013, due to the amount of repeat people that come down for vacation that either had there normal vacation spots detroyed or they could not find a place. NY and Gov Coumo gave charter boats in NY money for lost revenue for the end of 2012 but not to bash the big guy NJ did nothing that I am aware of:confused:

Thanks to all those who voted, replied and pushed for support. You know who you are.
Update: Although I unfortunately could not make the meeting Monday our network AKA Henry Landau (Jakesdad) and Ron Tressel made sure the survey results (73% so far suffered a loss between 10% to over 50%) were noted and recorded in the meeting minutes. Thanks Henry and Ron, these guys are always there to attend a meeting, help at shows etc and are true ambassadors to Fluke fishing.
Glad to see more for Hire Capts on the poll and hearing your comments.
Would love to have had hundreds of replies / poll response but will settle for what we get by end of month. Still tells a story.
Gerry, if you don't mind let this run until the end of the month as I want to send the results in the public comment by Jan 24th as well as to our elected officials.
Capt Mark: Agree that Cuomo has done more to date than Gov Christie. I seem to remember during Sandy Recovery speeches that retribution for loss in your industry was possible. You (for Hire) guys would know more than me if that is possible and how to get it. What I do know is that in the State of the State address Christie made comment that he wont rest until all affected by Sandy are restored to normal.
Goal is to find out how allowing REDUCTION of our season, bag limits and fishing opportunities will return the fishing community that suffered big time to "NORMAL". Let alone the Flawed Data.
Not sure if this will get anywhere but like staying at the rail when "catching" sucks we have to stay at the fight and win or go down trying.

After having gone to the meeting, I once again felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall. The fed's send one person to the meeting to record what is said. No one of any authority has the balls to show up.
I sell a t- shirt in my shop of a Albert Einstein quote, I think this fits perfectly:
"IF THE FACTS DON'T FIT THE THEORY, CHANGE THE FACTS
The monies spent by SSFFF, to produce correct data on mortality rates of fluke, that had been accepted the past couple of years has been thrown out, and a completely flawed number has replaced it. Our quota's are based on whatever they feel it should be, not what science has proven it to be.
Sorry for the rant, but after the other night I know why people don't attend,
Hopefully it was not a waste of everyone's time.
Henry
