To whomever is making these rules and regs, stick them up your...
There's more rules and regs than Obama care! It seems that whenever
they make a rule, it's to their benefit. Size limits and quotas are destroying party boats, charter boats, plus bait and tackle shops. There will no longer be an honest fisherman on the water!!?? Commercial fishing for fluke was closed about a month ago, so does that mean recreation fishermen should sacrifice their size limit and quota? It's about time that the National fishery gets their act together.

This crap has been going on for years. Have you not been following it for the last 10 years? The government does not want us on the water. They want to sell zones to the highest bidder ( BIG CORPORATIONS ) to manage our oceans. It's all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The "Liberal" Agenda 21 of the equitable distribution of wealth and resources. Smart Growth and the Sustainable Plan, obscured and corrupted by pay to lay, patronage, special interest, and just plain dumbasses! Now you got me started! Vent.

10 years is right. This is not liberal or conservative, this is Pew and big money. Their whole agenda is to make us think it is a liberal or conservative plan so we fight each other and not them.

It's going to turn into the same thing as speed limits. Speed limit is 65, but everyone goes 75-80+ and hits the brakes when they see the trooper. Honestly, if you took polls of recreational charter/party boat captains for size/bag limit ideas, you'd get a much better system. Why? They want a renewable resource and they see what the resource looks like every day.

Bingo!! A prime example of this is what the Lobstermen up in Maine have done. It's not perfect but it's better than some bureaucrats sitting behind a desk using flawed science to determine the regs.

Exactly...read the editorials in any saltwater fishing magazine; it's the common topic throughout, issue after issue!!!!!!!!!

What happened to the "Stocks are completely Rebuilt"??? Where's the reward?
Nobody ever has asked me "What size fish or how many do I need to survive,"why you ask? Because they don't give a rat's ass about you, me or anything that would make a difference!
The politicians are all bullshitted up about "Catch Shares"and how they can make a buck down the road when we are all off the water.
Can't wait to see all the Politically correct fishermen there are when the tickets start flying......How many hard working people will become Scumbags for trying to take home dinner.
I'm all for REASONABLE SIZE AND BAG LIMITS, but that's what they should be REASONABLE! 4 fish (Fluke) at a proposed 18 inches with a 4 fish bag limit is not reasonable for this area.
Just one more way the Gov has turned another business and this Great Country into a mess.

Hey Ron: Maybe they just want us all to go on unemployment for the next 99 weeks instead of working. If my son becomes "undocumented" do you think he can get "in State" tuition in California?

That would be funny if it weren't true.
It's going to be like back in the days of Robin Hood. We peasants will not be allowed to hunt in the King's forest or harvest fish from his rivers. The wild game will be reserved strictly for the profit and enjoyment of the King.
Also would be funny if it weren't true.

Everyone feel better now?
There is a meeting in Toms River Monday night, I believe. Now that we have all talked the talk, who is going to show up and walk the walk?
I can tell you who is not going to be there. Me, I am tired of all the BS I made many of those meetings in the past only to be completely disheartened to see the low turnouts when the time came to actually stand up and speak.
Now I will follow my own rules and fish with those that are of a like mind and heart.

If the rules are unsubstantiated and arbitrary, why should we respect them?
Fishermen are going the way of fur trappers and soon deer hunters. Rules and regs and "safety' concerns from the mommy state will soon have us all sucking at her teats like dependent young children.
Its sad to see this country move in the direction its going toward. Most of the fellas on this chat board are just plain frustrated and angry. -They see the train coming and can't get out of the way.
In the meantime, I'll keep taking and eat'in the fish I catch.- and I bet a lot of you fellas will do the same!

I go to Mississippi every year once or twice to fish with a friend of mine out of Ocean Springs. The gulf rules are even worse-----all geared to commercial catch.. They say redfish are overfished---bull---every drop offshore-- two 5-10 lbers every drop. It is all money and who you know. Unfortunately I've been fighting this for over 30 years to no avail. I'm afraid they(the gov't)---whoever is in power doesn't do a thing for the sport & charter fisherman. I've been to meetings where experts(Jack Casey) say the long liners don't catch blue sharks(a shark scoping meeting)-----bull. I was thrown out of that meeting. I wish I had the answer.

Used to love those Tuna meetings in LB years back. Twenty or so of s diehard Tuna guys would show up , the officials would practically outnumber us!
Those early days of more stringent Tuna regs , especially giants .
We were allowed to fish a staggered season fish a few days then off a few days .
It seemed every time the seasoned opened back up it blew, 25 NE !
We didn't present a unified across the board support
front at that time
& we still don't ! I believe we have a better understanding of the current fishery issues & more activist groups deeply involved in saving our fisheries, however support is splintered & is costing big time ! Until we show a united front we are in for tough times!

With the thousands of people on this board how many can say they attended a meeting?I have been to many and have been allowed to speak. From bunker to winter flounder and a bunch of others.Did it help because I feel like I am shoveling shit against the tide.I donate money, buy NY charter permits, register as a for hire boat in NJ.All this for what???Kind of like getting divorced, only the lawyers make out lol:rolleyes:

Capt Sal thanks for your honesty and fight for better fishing! :)
I will be honest I have not attended a meeting in a while and no matter what rules they impose I stopped following them 5 years ago when I visually saw the those douche bags MRFSS blatantly making up numbers because almost no one on the boat wanted to give them their fish to record.
I will take what I feel I want and leave the rest to swim, let them try and catch me.
If they are reading this, you can suck my hairy sack, try and catch me! :)
