Had the pleasure of fishing with Captain Ralph and Nick on the Lady Lady II out of Neptune. Me, Joey Dah Fish and Davey 2 Poles and we got to meet a few others from the site to include Fish4life, his brother Rob, Tognut and TDalley. Brother Joe won the pool with and estimated 6 or 7 pounder, I think Tognut, Rob and Fish4 had their limit, John had 3 me and Davey had 2 each as did the others and I think just one person had none.
We left the dock at 6 bells and our first stop was about a hour NE of port. Picked a few here and there but nothing consistent and the Pout and Congers started in so Capt made a move a bit further north. Didn't stay there too long becuase we got covered up by doggies so we set up a bit further north. We picked a few fish there and on the way home Captian decided to hit our first spot since he thought sooner or later the fish would chew there and chew they did and the final drop proved to be the best drop. Ralph stayed late to take advantage of the bite which was much appreciated and I guess we wound up back at the dock in the dark around 6 pm.
Greens seemed to work as well if not better than the whites especially in some spots and the bite was kind of strange. As soon as we'd get set up we get a flurry and then it would go dead, except for the last spot where we finally got a more consistent bite.
Been a long time since I fished from sun up to sundown but the day went surprisingly fast. Captian had us on the hard stuff all day, Nick was right there when you needed him and the guys on the trip made it a lot of fun with constant ball busting. All in all a great day of fishing.
