HAPPY NEW YEAR I did not have time to post yesterday as my wife and I were headed to Times Square. Here is yesterdays report: The water temp. was up in the low 40's at Scotland so I made a quick stop. It was a Flat ocean with no wind or current but I got lucky and landed on the wreck. Plenty of tog but mostly 14 inch fish. We did grab a handful of keepers. I moved on to deeper water and only had a couple of shorts but we weren't right on the wreck so I headed off to were we had fished last week.
The water was around 45 deg. and i saw a lot of mid water and bottom life. We had some bigger tog with Archie Stewart from Nutley catching the pool fish between 7 and 8 pounds. There were some ling with the tog and I had solid mid water readings. Mike, one of our mates started jogging and had 3 and 4 baggers of mostly herring but some macks. A good sing of things to come.
I moved to another wreck and had the port anchor foul twice costing us valuable time. Here we had a few tog and ling and congers.
I went in shore to fish the apple pie for our last drop but I got word from Scott Prowler that there was not much going on so I returned to Scotland where we had a few more tog.
We will not sail for the next few days with the rain snow and bitter cold coming. as soon as we break next weeks cold spell we will be sailing again. January is often special with tog cod and ling. Once again Happy Hew Year Captain George
