Was on the same trip, conditions were really nice. Unfortunately the biscuits did not dine at their typical torrid pace. The Cap'n scrambled to try to find the fish but it seemed like the things that were most hungry were silver eels and doggies.

The mates worked their butts off, unhooking all the junk and unscrambling LOTS of tangles. It amazes me that some people think they'll be able to magically hold with eight ounces when most everyone else on the boat is using sixteen lol.

Was interesting to be greeted by so many COs at the dock upon our return. Even more interesting was the scramble by a couple of guys to surreptitiously slip a few shorts out of their coolers and overboard without being seen by the COs. Real class acts

All in all a really fun day, though a reminder that one should really cherish the days when limits are reached by 10 am and not take them for granted. Gonna miss these trips in January.

I was on this trip as well. Tough day catching keepers.

Agree about the 8 oz. Lots of unnecessary tangles.

Plus I think that electric reels should be prohibited in less than 500 feet. They guy next to me had 2 parked on opposite sides of the boat. He would get tangled but keep bringing it up at full speed. As a result I lost 200 feet of brand new Daily boat braid when I got sawed off.

There was a wheelchair angler and he was able to crank em up just fine. Even he said he would feel like an idiot using one. What a trooper and inspiration this guy was.

Interesting seeing the cops at dock. If it would have been better fishing I am sure some of the rogues would have gotten fines.

That trip was definitely a case of should have been on the last trip. Oh well. That's fishing. Slept well on ride back in and stayed up until 12:05 so wife was happy. :)

Happy New Year to all.

Wardens were very nice. Did their jobs, but were very polite and didn't bust balls.

Thanks for the report. Was wondering how you guys did. Guess conditions changed cause we had similar fishing on the Gambler. Now I don't feel sobad about our trip lol. And wow that is two years in a row they met that boat at the dock on her last trip of the season! They should post two officers on each side of the boat when she pulls up with cameras watching for guys tossing fish overboard, doesn't seem that difficult to solve that problem.

That gent in the chair was amazing! I bunked next to him and we chatted on the way out. He should be a motivational speaker. Just an amazing, can-do attitude.

After the trip I was up til 1 am shrink wrapping fish and preparing for a 6 am tog trip the next morning. I was a walking, fishing zombie but it was a GREAT way to celebrate the new year lol

I fished on this boat on 12/29. The weather was bad… but fishing was very good.

I had problems with my reels and an old braid, so it is my fault that I did not max out. I think most fishermen maxed out.

I got about 18 huge porgies and about 10 giant… really giant seabass.
All fish reeled in were keeper size. Overall it was a very good trip.
