Let's up the ante another notch... Today I was in Andover Hunt & Fish (formerly YOJ Sports) picking up some guns and mentioned the upcoming Meet n Greet to Garrett the owner. He said he would be interesting in sponsoring / contributing to the event by either donating some gear for prizes, offering a discount to people on gear for it or something similar.

Sooooo... time for some suggestions on what you guys would like here. This is a serious offer so please no stupid or ridiculous suggestions.

Andover Hunt and Fish, a sponsor, that's awesome. Were never organized because for the most part, it's an ICE PARTY!!! We should take full advantage of this. Let's say a pair of ice picks or something goes to the biggest panfish caught. The biggest slime dart possibly gets a voucher for 20 dollars worth of ice gear. The biggest LM, I don't know, maybe a voucher for some bass lures. This is a great oppurtunity to have. I'm sure this site would love nothing more than to add another AWESOME SPONSOR!

No confirmed hybrids through the ice at spruce but I know a couple of guys who had their tip ups spooled recently and they were fairly sure it was hybrids.

Was out on Spruce today and Tuesday. LOTS of ice, like 10" in some spots. Couldn't get a pike on the line, nor could any of the other people out there today from what I saw. Jigged up a few perch though.

The ice should definitely hold up tho, there's so much of it. Also, I heard a rumor that people have ice fished the main lake at RV for trout. I didn't go look myself but that's what I heard....

Well be getting on the ice at the big lot at the beginning of Van Styckles rd right off rt 31. You know, where Spruce Run "CRICK" dumps in. Lots of options in this area. Ice is plenty safe and will only get thicker as this coming week passes. The ice gods are definately on our side this year when it comes to HARDWATER ANGLING. Sorry open water dudes, I'm pretty sure you feeling like your going to jump off a building right now with the ice surrounding and taking over all bodies of water. Plenty of fish to catch. C'mon out and have a good time. I know, I know, it's cold out there and you don't know how to dress. I can't feel my fingers or toes, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!!!!! I'll keep you safe and warm, but only if you join the party. What the hell are you holding back for? Your going crazy because you haven't caught a fish in two months. Your withdrawals can be cured with a little help from some ALL SEASON ANGLERS. Pike, LM, Smallies, Crappie, Perch, Catfish, Hybrids, you name it, Spruce has it! I'm just sayin! What's the water level in Spruce right now? When I stopped by there on Christmas it was super low.

Stopped by there last weekend and today.....lake level is fairly low. Last week there was a ton of guys out and today there were maybe 8 guys out. Last week guys were all over the lake.....from the power lines to the launch to the crick. I also drove by the RV and there were guys on the ice at the main launch and on the beach side. I didn't go by the Rangers cove but I'd guess there's ice there. I'm pretty sure Dale has me convinced on coming up on the 22nd.

Hey buddie, like to report Tom and me hit SR for a couple hours today and she rewarded us we with around a 28 inch pike that weighed just about 5 lb and a little perch.
There was 10 to 12 inches of ice in all the holes I checked.
Tom caught this pike jigging a phoebe tipped with a package meal worm you know the dead ones from walmart.
Tom and me are both looking forward to seeing you guys. I made a video but couldn't get it on here to save my life.

That was nice Phil, not bad for a couple hours of pleasant ice fishing weather.
2:30 - 5:00 pm, soaking some shiners and jiggin some spoons, mid to low 30's.
Should be 40's next weekend and 50's by the 22nd according to Accuweather.
Ice is nice, but I'm dyin for open water already.

Man, I haven't been on that end of GWL in years. I didn't know it was that shallow. I still had a great time regardless. Nice fire, Jameson's for breakfast along with some Hawaiin stew Mikey whipped up. All is good. Thanx for setting it up Seth. See you again real soon. We went to another NNJ lake in the afternoon and caught a couple nice fish to end the day. Mikey landed a nice 32-33 inch Pike, FINALLY, LOL!!! Good stuff buddy. Myself and SkunkCity got a few slime darts on the tip-ups. ScowardNJ got on some Perch jigging, I think he got a fish on the tip-up as well, not sure. We made the best of the day and kept going til we could put a catch together. All in all a great day with some fine MANIACS! I'm ready to do it again tomorrow if anyone is interested. This was my only ice outing of the year so far and Flatcreek and I were very happy with the results.

Ok, who's coming to Spruce to catch the MONSTER? It will be a little sloppy on top but there's plenty of ice for all to share. It's gotta be 12 inches thick by now. Make sure your feet are waterproof. If your not swingin for the fences than don't step in the box. Does anyone have any big baits I can rent for a couple hours? I'll kindly give them back at the end of the day, as long as I don't get a MONSTER!:D

Sorry You guys has a bummer of a day but you weren't alone...... I fished Hopatcong today w/ a bunch of guys and it was same as Eddie said.....a nightmare(or a good workout depending how you look at it)......had to walk out 200 yards on 12 inches of snow then shovel a 5x5 area of clear ice to set up and fish.....dig through 14" of ice and when we got through the area we cleared out filled up w/ 2" of water....the tipups were floating around!!!...it was a night mare today!!!...I only ended up w/ one perch and one bluegill to show..Adam ended up w/ a few bluegill and Joey and crew got a few pickerel.....going from hole to hole was brutal by days end....gonna give it a break until a really good cold snap freezes up everything solid again.....

Here was the best part of the day....the view as the sun was coming up over the lake......from there it was all mostly downhill.....but good to be out after a few days of uncertainty......

Jersey end of Greenwood was a tough test for sure. We drilled all the way out to the middle of lake and in the channel in Belchers Creek and never found water deeper than 5ft. 3ft of snow, 18" of ice, 3ft of liquid turned the meet n' greet to a meet n' migrate. We still had some warm food around a fire with some good beverages. Always a good time hanging with this crew!

I don't want to run into the same situation as what happened on GWL. That area can be shallow. If you walk out a good ways in may be 2 feet of snow, 2 feet of ice and one foot of water.

I think the main area will be plowed and have easy access. For those who have never seen Spruce Run it may be a good idea to get them to know the main park area, just my $ 0.02

As of Saturday the parking off of 31 was not plowed that well. The launch is plowed but the parking lot isn't. Parking could be tight if the snow doesn't melt. The beach area roads were not plowed and the gates into there were locked.

Glad you guys got into some action later on. I had a great day just getting out and getting to meet some of the crew. It's been a long time since I got to do something cool with my brother, so fish or no fish for me, THANKS! I'll be sure to not oversleep the next time I get out there so I can actually be prepared! Come one come all. Should be a blast. When spruce is open this time of year you usually see that little peninsula stacked with anglers. Hmmmmmm, what are they fishing for? Pike of course, and they do catch em. It takes patience but hey you never know. I pulled plenty of cars out of ditches last week on my street, I don't mind pulling out a couple more. Stopped by there today. Parking lot by spruce run creek is pretty rough, but the boat launch is plowed and you can park a dozen or so cars there. Was maybe half dozen cars there and I could see several people fishing, but I didn't have time to hang out and BS. Both! If there was 12" of ice I'm thinking it will hold up. Could be interesting with all the melting going on though. 40 degree ice fishing has got to be better then the 15 degree stuff we had on LH!

I should be there by 7 am or earlier. Saxmatt will be set up before sunrise and hopefully have a 40+ Pike coming through a hole as I pull into the lot. This is the last formal NJF ICE MEET-N-GREET of the season I'm thinking. Stop what your doing and come out for a couple hours. Let's go, the ice is perfect, it was below freezing last night and will be below freezing again Friday night. We'll be standing on 10 inches of ice. Yes, there will be water on top, no biggie. Make sure your feet are waterproof. Anybody bringing any food? I think I'll bring some fat free BACON!!!! See you MANIACS out there.

Not even close to hybrid territory. You can walk to campers point and try though. It's not the norm to catch those crazy 'Brids through the ice, but it does happen 1-2 times every 10 years. It's a pipe dream for most anglers. Half the dudes on the points and humps at LH sit out there for 30 days straight to catch 1 fish. Sonars are great for seeing what you can't catch. LOL!!!!!!

Had a blast as usual, had one run off that cleaned my hook by the time I to it.

Matt was putting on a Dead Baiting For Pike seminar today that was quite entertaining as well.

We had several Ice M&G this year and every one had a good turn out even thought the fishing wasn't great we managed to put a few fish on the ice!

Great meeting some of you guys for the first time and all the boyz from the crew.

I'll still be on the ice as much as possible before ice out and that's not looking like late march/april as of now so hope to see some of you again on the ice!

Probably going to stay local sunday and hit the bass spot again!
Jeremy is having severe withdrawals gotta get that guy on the ice soon!!!!

It was great fishing with everyone today. Good to meet some new people and see some familiar faces. The weather was great and we got a few decent fish. The first fish of the day was a 3-4lb channel cat, then I caught a decent pike at 32" and probably over 10lbs, an hour later got that small one in the pic above, Zach got a bass, Liveitup got a small pike, and after most of you left Jim got another decent pike around 32". It was fun hanging out with everyone, see you guys at the next one!

Great seeing you guys that I already now today and meeting a few more I only now from there post. Eddie that fat free bacon is great, you'll have to tell me where you get it. Should of spent more time with the gang, but I was busy over on the other shore trying to put some fish on the ice with Tom. Unfortunately we didn't have much luck, had a few flags with no takers and had one short runoff on my jigging rod. Had to cut out early for a bday party and really didn't have time to come over and say good bye, besides it was a really long walk in the slush. That Res is a lot bigger then it looks when your walking. It was so nice out there i feel like I was at the beach.:)

Thanx to everyone that showed up yesterday. It was great seeing all of you MANIACS. We caught some fish yesterday so all in all I consider the day a great success. Got to see people I haven't seen in a while, AndyS and Wilson made a special guest appearance. The river rats Phil and Tom came out looking for a big Pike, always good to see them. Saxmatt, GetAnet, Liveitup1.75, Kcritch, Mikey Topaz, Rob, SkunkCity, Gwl2oneida, Joey, Kissy and there friend, 2 buddies from an ice fishing site came out later in the day, nice to see Jim and Gary. Zach, the master of RV shore fishing was there as well, kid catches more fish from shore than the dudes on the boats, HAHA! It was great to see all of you out there for sure. We'll be on the ice for another month with this cold coming back this week. Cant wait to do it again. I have stock in fat free bacon, if you need some just let me know, HAHA!!!

Thanx for putting M-N-G 1-4 together Andy. It's kinda like a book I guess. I enjoyed every minute of it, good times with great people. For me it's all about bringing people/ anglers together and having a good time. Thanx again to all that participated. You guys are awesome and I'm thankful that I've had the pleasure of fishing with all of you. I promise no MONKSVILLE/ SKUNKSVILLE next year. No angler should have to go through the pain that body of water causes, LOL! See you MANIACS out there real soon.
