We just returned home after a banner sea bass trip.
I'm guessing but we had to be pretty close to a full boat limit.
We made our first stop and the bite was great. Bobby made one wiggle and made one move and that spot was just as good.
There were 2 nice pollack caught and a fat cod. Leif landed a nice monkfish as well.
I had a 94qt cooler and it was filled.
Other guys I knew in the trip were Leif, Jon Devin, his Bro Joel, David Chuah, Torchee, and Jill Johnson. Every cooler I saw was overflowing with huge SB and porgies.
Hopefully someone will post pics.
I'm 99% sure that The Gambler has open spots for the Tuesday trip.

That was a good trip. The porgy were ridiculously sized. I was hoping for a better jig bite as I like jigging for sea bass, but my bro and I put a lot in the box anyway. I finally stopped keeping porgy I had so many of them, all jumbos. Jay took the pool with his pollack. The 4 mate crew filleted all the way to the dock and then some. Tom's burger was awesome. As always, great crew, great time!
...thinking about Tuesday, but I have enough fish and don't like killing them for nothing. Anyone want to fund my excursion and you can have whatever I catch? ;-)

Great trip!
What a bunch of professionals - the fisherman and the crew.
I caught over 30 giant sea bass ORL- then spread the love.
It was wild to see guys release 3lb porgies because they were sick of catching them.
It really sucks that these trips are not an option in January
I was too tired to take pictures.

The Gambler was going right back out again to fish today I believe, hoping they did as well.

Yes they are out on the grounds now.
Awesome day on the Gambler. Captain and crew were outstanding! The mates were filleting fish way into 9pm last night. Nice fishing with Jon, Leif and Howie. Here is a picture of my Pollock and my cooler.

Way to go Jay. I wish I would have waited a week for my trip on the Gambler. Last week was decent but it sounds like you guys nailed 'em yesterday. How was the ocean yesterday? Last week we had maybe 2 or 3 people never make it out of the cabin with stomach nausea. I always pre-medicate ;) to avoid these things but some of our gang last week were obviously under-medicated.

Couldn't ask for better weather. Smooth ride out. Used 12oz sinkers all day. Great group of guys on board. We all fished hard to the very end. Left them biting. We all had coolers overflowing. Can't ask for a better day....:D

Fair to partly snotty (maybe 4 to 6') but very comfortable. I do get sea sick but thought it would be 3' so I did not use the patch. Left at 3am. Very smooth on the way out with the wind on the stern, slept like a baby. Started fishing around sunrise, didn't feel great but didn't lose my cookies, got my sea legs pretty quickly. If we started fishing in the dark I may not have faired so well.

It was nice to stop down at the dock after my trip and see da full coolers! I am glad you guys got them!
Nice to see Jay Santiago, Jon Devin and meeting his brother Joel, Howie Allen and of course Mr. Billfish and Leif. Nice to see Capt. Bob and Mike and Tommy too!
Looks like you guys did just as good as I did on the Voyager. I believe I saw you guys out there, either East or West of us. Again already reported, the porgies were so thick I started to release them halfway through the day. I was 8 SeaBass away from my limit but caught plenty.
Once again, nice to see everyone!

Some on the trip, esp HOWIE, were Sea Bass snobs/Porgy haters. Nothing wrong with dinner plate/platter sized Poe-gies!
We got 'em! Lots of big porgies and sea bass. Nice monkfish too. Good to see ya Jay, Yassar, Dave and the crew. Tommy was the man on the grill firing up the pork roll egg and cheese and angus burgers. On the money Tommy, Bobby, Mike and the whole crew.

Jay nice job on the pool. Overall it was a gr8 trip for me, looking at prior week's offshore seabass trip reports I got lazy and instead of taking 165qts cooler from shed, I took my small cooler fm garage(approx 70qts); BIG mistake (which I wont repeat in future); my cooler was overflowing within few hours; Many thanks to mates who started filleting and I got in line quickly to make more space in my cooler :D. Not sure I got my seabass limit but was very close. And there were porgies and man they were Jumbo and thick; drop and reel most of the times. Had a great time; an epic trip for me.
Glad to see the NJFishing "Legends". It was good to meet you all in person. Hopefully will see you agian soon on a fishing trip. Here is the pic.

Sorry for delayed post; my work-hours had been crazy past few weeks....Heard Gambler may put together a Cod Trip. If that happens I will try my best to get onboard and maybe some of you can make it too.
Tight lines.

If the gambler does an extended cod trip I'm in.
I wonder if its possible to go out there grab those porgies, then work the way home stopping for mid range cod and ling. Gambler has the speed but I don't know the specifics involving the locations.....
But it would be a killer trip for that boat!
Sound like a great NjFishing trip/charter if someone is motivated to do the leg work. Nice way to shake of the winter blues. Maybe the same price and hours would cover it???

The Big Jamaica is actually targeting Offshore Porgies, Cod and Pollock, I couldn't jump on one of those trips. I'm pretty sure the Seabass are thick, it would be hard to release a jumbo seabass. I'll definitely make the news. I'll be doing like my Avatar states!:D
