Hello All,

My name is Alex B, son of John B. First and foremost, I’d like to apologize to the mods/forums if this does not seem like an appropriate post or if it is in the wrong place. By all means, please move/remove it according to your policies.

I am writing to you all today to inform you of my father's passing. At first I was reluctant to post this, but as time passed, it seemed more and more appropriate. Fishing was his lifelong passion and I’ve spent many of my days with him in freshwater lakes, rivers, on party boats, on the shores of Raritan Bay and all around the Atlantic Highlands.

This community and the fishing community in general brought him great joy, and he has always had positive experiences to share. I’m not sure how many or who out of you even knew him, but I wanted to respectfully offer all of you the opportunity to share and celebrate his life with my family.

If you are interested in the service details, please PM me (it is this Sunday) and I’d be happy to share. I apologize for the short notice. As you may imagine, it's been a bit busy around here.

My goal here is not to impose or pressure anyone. I am not a fan myself of memorials/funerals and would not take offense to people not attending. I am simply extending the offer out of respect to the community that had brought so much happiness and good times to my father.

I’d also love to hear any stories/experiences you may have had with him below. It means alot to us.

Sincerely,

Alex

Alex I never had the pleasure of meeting you or your Dad but your words and pictures are a clear indication of the type person your father was. As a parent, one of our greatest accomplishments is to teach our children love respect, responsibility, and commitment. Obviously your father taught you well... because that is the life he lived. May he rest in peace and may his memory be eternal ... tightlines

Alex, that middle picture looks to be on Tagged Fish? If that is the case I'm sure I fished with him at one time or another. Just that as my age climbs, my memory falls. Anyway, I am sorry to hear of your loss and my prayers and condolences go out to your family.

This post is proof of your dad's positive contribution to the world... He obviously raised a very decent, caring, respectful and compassionate son. Not easy to find these days.. Thats more than enough for any man ,and a wonderful legacy for anyone.. I wish you and your family all the very best.. He certainly left much to young... bob

Alex, thank you for letting us know of your dad's passing. We share your sorrow. John was an Angler regular who I always enjoyed. I can still see him fluking in the bow and when the current got strong he used a heavy buck tail he called OCTOMAN. He won many a pool and was one of our favorite customers. He will be missed.
