Between deer hunting, work, and the website being down, I haven't given much thought to stripers this fall. I'm not seeing many reports or charters listed for stripers lately, so I'm guessing they didn't show up in any numbers this fall? Is the water too cold, too warm, or......????
The fall bass run has been crazy! Lots of fish more shorts now but bigger fish early. Still worth going out though

Went out yesterday on the Golden Eagle. A couple of keepers were lost near the boat and a few near 28' fish with the rest being shorts. But tons of them with birds all over the place. Had a blast. Would I have liked a couple of keepers? Sure, but I don't keep bluefish yet I go all the time and this is what it was like, the equivalent of catching 6lb blues all day. Who doesn't want that action? And it's been solid for a while now. Apparently I'm in the minority as only 10 people showed up. Big kudos to Cap't Rich for going as he knew these fish weren't exactly around the corner.

Went out on the Belmar Princess on Black Friday. Slow day until we went past the 3 mile line. Then had a good shot at small (25") throw-back bass for an hour. Headed in after that and found some bass but nothing great. Maybe 4 keepers on the boat.

Just out of curiosity how do you know you were past the line?

When you get to the line, there is a toll booth. If you pay the toll the gate goes up...They must have paid the toll.

Captian made an announcement. I assume he had a GPS, or maybe a tape measure.

The northeaster we had a few weeks ago was the culprit. It dropped the waters temps ten degrees. Hence, the baitfish and the bass headed to Federal waters. On Sunday, I fished on a PP party boat. After the trip, the pool winner was pulled from a hat in that no paying onboard customer caught a legal bass. This is the 2nd time this pool winner hat happened to me this fall. Clearly, not what I expected. YES...the FAT lady has sung for me.

When you see the shipping lanes -your pretty sure its past 7 miles. I am not sure why so many had pooped out on the deep, drop n reel fishing, not taking em home is small price to pay. Stellar fall run IMO
