I got out onto the ice in November for the first time in 5 years today. It wasn't in NJ but it wasn't too far away either. There were areas of gray ice that were 4" and fresh black ice that was 2" in the morning and 2.5-2.75" by the time I left. I landed 3 pike all in the same hour around 1:30-2:30 in the afternoon. The two smaller ones were around 28" and took 8-10" smelt and the bigger one was 31" and a fat 9lbs took a 10" dead sucker, 5-7' of water. No monsters but not a bad start to the season. I can't wait to get out in Jersey!

Very nice sir! This season is looking good so far. I know a few anglers who are ice fishing 4 solid inches in the poconos. Also some ponds and shallow lakes in northern nj have 2-3 inches already. Budd lake has 1.5 inches at the mouth of the creek, my buddy drilled a hole there today. Nice catch Matt! TIGHT LINEZ!!!

I have fished them. If you put in 100 hours you'll catch a few muskie. I'm put again today, 2 so far, got a 35" and lost a big one.

Here's the 35" from today, took a big dead fallfish. The ice was getting sketchy so I had to pack up by noon.

Nice fish Matt. Crazy thin ice, but know your safe, you should post a warning DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME. I'm with Dale and need at least 4+, that water is cold.:)

This may not rub you the right way Matt. Sorry if it doesn't! How bout being our guide up on your MONSTER PIKE LAKE??? Little M-N-G on your water. I'm not sure how many people would actually show up, I do know it's only 2 hours away! We can keep it top secret if you'd like!!!!!

Eddie, I fish over half a dozen different places up here. I'll be fishing for a week and a half up here around Christmas/new years. You're welcome to come up for a few days.
