Ran an open boat trip today with Gene, Craig, Bill, Nick, Jon F. With the hard NW wind we decided to run the other way and fish south where the bite has slowed a bit.
Had a fish on a jig early, dropped it. After that we went up on the troll and had a slow pick of bass and bluefish working depths from 30-40' and then 55-60'. Out in the deep, the readings were insane as we read fish from top to bottom, but most wouldn't bite or we'd pull a fish or two out of the readings. Very frustrating!
Wound up with 10 bass, 5 were rats, 2 were right @ 28", and 3 were nice 30-36" fish topped by Craig's 19#er. Also had 6 bluefish.
Overall a tough day - gonna try to squeeze in a couple more weekends as long as mother nature allows!
