Grandson and I went down to the Gambler early Sunday Morning on a mission. We needed enough Striper fillets for a large Family meal in Springfield Mass. on Thanksgiving week. We set sail with 20 fares to overcast but calm conditions. Capt. Mike turned the boat South and we took a ride down towards Seaside. We saw plenty of life with Bass swirling on the surface. Capt. Mike put us on a drift with birds all around the boat . Todd quickly caught a Bluefish and Chris broke off a fish. In the next few drifts I missed a couple on the Salas 6Xjr., have a follow up, and Grandson got a Short on an Ava 27. Chris gets a fat keeper and a customer above me caught a Herring and a short . I switch to an Ava 47 and it's game on . I get one nice keeper in the box . The guy above makes a four fish run with 2 keepers. I box another . We can hear fish flopping in totes and cooler lids bouncing. It's getting foggy and the bite has slowed. I hook one more and hand it off to a 8-10 year old kid . He can hardly hold on and gain line . We help him towards the stern and he puts a nice 10-15 lb. Bass in his tote. The fog is now thick and we can't see the other boats or birds for that matter. After three horns we slowly head back to our inlet and visibility improves when we break the inlet. There are 3 totes of racks in the stern . I saw Ten keepers caught on our side. The two Bass we kept will be enough for our trip. You had to grind it out to catch fish and gold or silver Ava 47's were the ticket . I would like to thank Capt. Mike the Gambler crew, Capt.74, and Muldune for another great trip .

Good job, Pete. Glad you guys had fun.

Guys, do not let tomorrows NW breeze keep you home. That west wind --even up to 35knots, will fire-up the striper bite again.

Leaving tomorrow at 7:30
