I am off and was hoping to make the drive down to AH ,or Belmar/Brielle for some bottom fishing,, Might not get the chance again until around Thanksgiving...
However I saw at least one head boat captain say [AH]that he wasn't even going to light up tomorrow due to the gale force winds... I have been watching the marine inshore forecast closely for several days, and they are saying 10-15 by late morning, and wave heights of 2-3 feet... If that holds up, that would be great, but the party boat captain has better information than I'll ever have... Anyway, I would like to come down, but am kind of spooked.. We're talking about $ 90 in gas and tolls round trip..
Any help?.. Would you guys make the drive with that forecast?.. I need to make the decision pretty soon, as I have to leave before 1 am, and need to get everything ready, and get to sleep early, like about 7 pm... Is the ocean that bad right now???.. I would appreciate any solid information... bob

Looks like the wind should calm down early in the morning with 3' seas as per NOAA, I'd make the trip

we are hitting the gambler tomorrow, if you are striper fishing its all tight to the beach, and if you bottom fishing im sure it will be fine as well on the anchor.

Thats the trip I REALLY wanted to do, but it gets back kind of late for me.. I wouldn't be home until about 10:30 or so, and have to get up at 5 am next day.. I would be dragging ass... Probably have to do something that gets back earler... bob

well decided not to go.. Saw on another big fishing site[NY mostly] that several other charter/party boat captains weren't going to sail on Vets Day due to weather... I checked NOAA and it didn't look too bad, but kept thinking about why guys that make their living at sea every day weren't sailing. Perhaps a big residual ground swell? I dunno,,,
Went outside for the last time about 10:30 last night, wind was fierce and howling, trees bent over, and I said the heck with it, .. Woke up at 6 to quiet and tranquility outside... Calm..
I am now sad I didn't heed the Weather Channel... They call for 2-3 ft seas.. I guess I'll know more when todays reports come.. I was going to jump on the OE out of Belmar, or if they were too packed the big Mohawk or capt Cal... If I see killer reports, I am going to be sick at my laziness and the fact that I simply chickened out...
If I see reports of rough seas, big swell and bad fishing, I will pat myself on the back for making the correct decision for a change!...
Maybe this weekend.... I hope... bob

Hey Bob, here are the list of weather sites I use. You kinda gotta fill in the blanks and make your own assumption of what you THINK the weather will end up being.

www.weather.com for rain and air temp
www.wunderground.com/MAR/ for general marine weather
www.bouyweather.com gives you two days of free winds and waves
www.fishweather.com gives you a week or so of winds and waves hourly and this is the site I have found is the most accurate. I kinda use the others to confirm fishweater. If I didn't have work today I'd be out there, I know a bunch of private and charter guys in the Belmar, Pt Pleasant and Barnegat areas that went today.

Thanks!.. I saw the forecasts saying it would be pretty decent, but couldn't wrap my head around the fact that a few respected captains weren't going to sail because of the wind.. I figured they know the sea a lot better than me or some "weatherman"... To be honest, If I were closer to the Jersey shore, I would have gone... bob
