Not sure what is going on but we've had a steady flurry of new registrants coming on board..... Trying to keep up but its a constant battle against bogus registrations from the SPAM bots.
If you are having trouble registering please shoot me an email at njfishing@aol.com and I will do my best to get you set up ASAP.
Thanks for your patinece.

Not sure but another site was recently sold to a Canadian outfit--might have something to do with it--some of the troops aren't too happy...

Greetings guys, new member here. I don't know about any other boards, but personally I just figured that if I can't catch any fish...I might as well at least talk about catching fish! :)
Not a good season for me this year, hopefully my luck will change after picking up some tips here from you guys.

Welcome Aboard. If you have any specific questions you can do a search on the site. Just type in question in the search function on top or just post question if you did not find answer to your question during search. Have some really skilled anglers on this site. Most would be willing to share info and answer any reasonable questions. You may get some ball busting also but it comes with the territory and is all in good fun. Enjoy the site and make sure to participate and post questions or fishing report and pics of your trips.

As someone who's been on both sites for a number of years now, and watched the other board's quality of content steadily decline over the last few years, I say welcome aboard! When I wanted to read a bunch of BS and see ego trips for a laugh, I'd go there. When I wanted to read ACTUAL fishing reports, I'd go here.

I agree, a lot of folks on the other forum are not very happy with the commercialization after it changed owners. Sites like these have to be run by local people that know local fishing. When people that run the forums are located a thousand miles away from the action and have no clue what the community is talking about, the value of the site is severly diminished. One member posted that it was like their local corner bar was bought out by Applebee's. A good analogy that I agree with.

Not sure if this feature was in use when I registered, can't remember. But perhaps look into adding CAPTCHA (an acronym for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart") feature when new registrations are being created. CAPTCHAs are used to prevent bots from using various types of computing services or collecting certain types of sensitive information It's where the user need to enter a distorted word. I'm sure we all have seen this before.
Just an idea.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, could someone PM the name of the other board.

I know that 2 other boards were recently purchased in the last 6 months. They are now swamped with horrible advertising posts and animated ads--it's a shame, but web traffic is a commodity. Apparently the targeted audience--fisherman--wasnt really taken into consideration when the ad-heads put their mustard together b/c the ads they're posting are waaaay off target. And I'm not talking targeted advertising here, either. The ads I see on those forums arent even remotely close to the Google search history in my cache.
Not to mention it has done 2 things: 1.)p*ssed off loyal members and 2.) diminished the value of of the forum experience.
But money talks, right?

Welcome NJTOFLA... I'm with you... If I can't be out fishing the next best thing is reading and talking about it.

Hopefully this site can draw in some of the local advertising $'s from the other south jersey site....this way money all stays local. Local BT shop pays NJFishing owner (a local) and then local anglers buy items from local BT and so on. Keeps money locally...not in Canada.
I just visited the other site and every thread has a national advertisement interruption on the second post of every page, looks cheap. The local advertisers are getting shut out which is a shame since I know that website sent a lot of customers to their shops. Hopefully we get some migration over here especially party/charter boats.
If you think jigging is fun in north jersey you should try throwing bucktails or floating spot in the rips this time of year in Cape May!

It is amazing how many people were ticked off by the sale of the BB. Keeping it local is better.

Does anyone know of a similar board that is used in Florida? I would like to find some charter boats running open dates in the Ft Lauderdale area this winter.

These waters run deep. The Private Message feature on here is the bomb, what you read on here is only HALF of what is going on :D
