With the current forecast, I am a little hesitant about taking the shrimp into the ocean. Was thinking of sneaking out on Friday from keyport and sticking around the back bay. Anyone know if there is any bite going on back there? I guess it would be chunking. Don't have a cast net so I guess I would have to buy a bunch of bunker:( Do they hit clams back there this time of year? Any advice on fall basing back there.

Thanks for any advice

From past experience , you should be able to troll or jig them in the channel.
Should also be able to troll them in shallower waters toward the Keansburg Pier and Union and Cliffwood beaches.

Have read that they are using chunks and doing OK.

With all the bait leaving the rivers finally, I'd say Newark Bay is your best bet. Bunker and live Eels!!! Newark Bay is a funnel for Stripers this time of year.

If I had to pick a spot I'd say round shoal there are a few rocks/wrecks over there and your close to Channel to get moving fish in your slick. If not move a lil more east towards great kills with jigs/eels if no dice on those two clam on romer if u wanna take a chance with the chop

I'm planning to head out Saturday morning; thinking about anchoring somewhere at round shoal; will have bunker chum and few frozen ones; any news if stripers or blues are here yet?

That's out front. Bay is do-able

Wind crapped out by 10pm. Good short window to get out before it cranks up again.

Out by 330, back by 9!!!!! Hope it pays off!

We were at round shoal today. Lots of bait readings and water temp was 51F. Nothing going on for blues or stripers. Bay water got very sporty around 1pm; trolled back to Perth Amboy. Up until noon; it was very nice day on water. With water temps hovering around 50's I'm hoping they should arrive in the bay any time now.
