Headed out Friday night for a Saturday charter. Long story short we hammered the striped ones on diamond jigs. Limited out the boat with fish to 32 lbs. at this point I thought we were going fluking due to the eminent ny closer. Rest of the guys wanted sea bass, so I didn't argue and it was off to block for biscuits. Limited the boat with several three to four pound knuckleheads. Great day on the water!
A little disappointed that we didn't fluke so decided to stay Saturday night after I got an invite to fluke fish Sunday on a private boat. Glad I did.
We left a little late on Sunday to sporty seas at the point. Had low expectations due to bad reports on the previous day. What a difference a day made. First cast had an 18 incher, back he went. Next cast same thing. Third cast got my first keeper! Next cast another close one that went back. Four casts, four fish! It only got better after that. Me, Johnny and the captain were constantly all hooked up at the same time! Four hours of lights out fishing ensued! We were flipping in five pounders because we all would have fish on:eek:! I ended up with a double limit to eight pounds! Countless 18.5 inch fish. By the end it was an hour of catch and release! My last fish of the day was a nice five pounder that I kissed and sent back for next year! Johnny and the capt. Had the same results! Insane fishing. One of my top three days ever fluking! Great way to end the season!
Just got home and am now going to pass out! Montauk, it's insane!
