The wife and I spent a beautiful Sunday out on LH yesterday. Fortunately we didn't catch any fish to ruin it! :D Except that is for one Walleye about 13" that I "snagged" on a Krocodile Spoon in about 15ft of water. He must have swiped at it and missed because the hook got him in the side just below the dorsal fin. It's amazing how hard that little dude could pull when he is swimming sideways! Pulling drag like a wiper...which is what I thought I had until I saw him. But it was my first ever Walleye so it made up for the lack of fish....a little at least. The wife did not agree with that train of thought. She gets grumpy when she doesn't catch anything.
Got a little choppy out on the main lake later in the afternoon with the wind and wake combo but it was a really nice day out there.
Pic to prove it.

A Walleye is a Walleye in my book. Congrats on your first one.
Any idea what the water temp was?

Congrats on breaking the ice...All fish feel larger when foul hooked, even sunnies.... ...may you catch a thousand more in your expeditions.......

Sorry I do not know....I do not have a temp reading on my graph. It's old and cheap! We were mostly cruising around looking for fishy spots and learning a little more about the lake. Managed to mark some random fish here and there with everything 20 feet or deeper. Just as Jimmy has let us know they would be at this time of the year.

Good job bro! a walleye is a walleye, no matter the size. Amazing he was out in the daytime, they usually hunker down in the weeds all day, the only time u can really target them is night or the morning til the first half hour of daylight. Then they go chill in the weeds for teh day.
Skunk the lake was 69 or 70 depending on where u were this weekend. Saturdays crazy winds did a good job of clearing all the surface weeds and making water temps even everywhere even the shallows. There is still a slight thermocline at 40-41 feet and deeper, but its just a band of colder water, its out in the middle of main lake doesnt affect fishing, nothing out there til next month anyway. All the fish I caught over the weekend were in 20-35 with most in the 28-32 fow range

CONGRATS! Took me a while too. Got my first last year in the fall on the three way rig with a herring. Baited up dropped it down, went to bait the next rod and before I was done the rod was doubled over. Nice 4 1/2 lber' Spring time is awesome at night and the fall is pretty excellent too!! Nice fish!! Conrats on your first!
I spent a cool windy morning recently with my buddies fish finder. Marked a bunch of deep fish, 18-25 ft. Jigged away for a few hours with grubs and crawlers and skunked out. Sooner or later they will cooperate, lol........
