For all you members who have been inquiring about Wildwood/Cape May fishing reports here's the Live Action scoop. Outstanding! I haven't seen it like this down here in twenty years.
Sunday I boarded Captain Paul Thompson's Porgy 1V Cape May Marina. I was told the fishing was good the past two weeks. Good is an understatement. We steamed out eighteen miles from the inlet to a rough bottom area. Every drop I had a hit or a fish right away. I caught over thirty with my limit to four pounds. One other head boat and six small boats made up a small fleet which I saw nets flying on them all day.
I used double hook white and green 4 oz. jigs tipped with smelts. No one else on the boat was jigging spearing or smelts. I brought my own down. The boat supplied fluke or squid strips. I believe my bait was the key to an outstanding catch. Looking forward to another trip this week.
