Relentless Charters

The cod fishing has continued to be steady even though the bite was tough in the AM with a strong wind and tide creating havoc with lines screaming out with 16 OZ jigs. The only thing to do is motor fish which is putting your bow into the wind and keep the boat moving slightly in and out of gear to allow the fishermen to keep the jigs straight up and down. Sounds easy but once the wind grabs the bow it will put you in the trough very quickly and lines running under the boat and into the running gear. Fishing on RELENTLESS was Mike Koloski and his friend Rob from New York, Aaron Scripps and his Father Steve who came up from Florida. Bernie Thomas of MA and Matt Magni also from MA. Working the jigs paid off for these guys early in the AM.

Late in the afternoon and about a seven mile move to the Northeast Capt Curt found some more cod and haddock in a little deeper water which wanted to eat bait insteasd of jigs. Anchoring up and feeding the fish some fresh sea clams brought additional cod and haddock over the rail.

At the end of the day, John had plenty of cod and haddock to fillet on the way back to Green Harbor sending the guys home with decent amounts of fillets for the freezer.
