Has anyone brought up any skipjack tunas or false albacore on the bluefish trips?
Or any other trip for that matter. Seems like they were in thick last year around this time.

the fleet isn't heading to those grounds for blues because they haven't been there this year. the peewee's kept the lines tight with bonito mixed in occasionally about 5-6 miles off-shore. we took a ride one day 20 miles out and nothing showed up even after chumming for a while. the big blues are showing up inshore finally, but no albies with them. last year was just one of those banner years for them!

No more pee wees, now monster blues further off to the NE. I'm sure everybody concerned would rather the blues took hold at SRR like before along with the exotics. Not like they are avoiding it on purpose. They wouldn't have to all jockey over a tiny spot of bottom. There's also a bunch of people you don't see the whole year all of a sudden there for albies. Shorter ride for most and clean water. The albies eventually work their way to the NE but tough to catch in the muddy water there.

Curses. Last year was my first year hitting up albies and skippies. It was insane fishing and I was wondering how the hell i missed out on this before.
I guess last year was just a banner year then.....was hoping to get a few skippies this year. They were surprisingly tasty if u bled them into an ice slurry immediately.
What are people getting the bonitos on? Tsunamis near topwater?
