Had regulars Dan Payet, Oscar Carillo, and Jerry Tomaselli out for canyon trip with help from Joe and Ed , goal was to compete in 4 categories tuna, mahi, sword, wahoo. Left to canyon in bad seas making for a long brutal run, knowing that next day in morning would be nice to run home in. Wound up going to Lindenkohl due to good sat shot. Only 1 mahi on evening troll and night chunk. Troll next morning was slow until we found a school of mahi, broke out the spinning rods and went to work on them. After some discussion with crew we decided to make the long run home in calm seas and weigh in our mahi. At the the time we missed first place and 6k by 2 oz! Great guys to fish wth.

Hey guys, thanks for the support, will tell you that in normal charter conditions I would have turned around since I wanted to go to the Hudson but nasty conditions and in a tournament made us figure out a game plan on the fly with 3-5 foot seas in your face 1 mile out. Took a heading south which was a better ride. Gave my team an option to go south and still fish and get home in comfortable conditions next day. Fortunately I had a great crew of 3 hard hardcore fisherman and 2 mates that could handle what got thrown at us all day long.

I am the guy who was fluke fishing just off the north end of carlsons that waved to you guys as you went by... Saw the number on your windshield and thought wow they are going for it, Ballsy move! It was a bit sporty two miles off, Can't imagine what it was like off shore! Anyway, glad you made it out and back safely and congrats on a nice catch.
