Sorry for the late post (had to wait for pics, I know we're all pic whores!).
Fished with my partner again and got to the lake a little later than I wanted due to Luke Bryant show, The beagle at the baitshop having a seizure and a stop at WAWA. Anyway hit the water about 7:00am and had some early action with a couple of nice smallies and a channel cat who picked a herring off the surface in 30ft of water. After this quick hit and run due to the man in the white truck (LOL) we made our way across the lake to our other spot and set up looking for some striped action. Not too long after came the first,
my daughters 5.2lb'er. Nice fish, but after that then there was a lull in the fishing for a while so we cruised the lake in search of but only to end up back where we started. LOL! Well we had a nice scenic tour and cooled off a bit and were ready for the afternoon bite. Shortly after the stripes started munching, ended up with a couple more, missed a few and lost one. And then another channel cat. (really amazes me they are hitting baits so far off the bottom). Then the reel is screaming again and I figure it's another hybrid but was I fooled, it's a nice sized Pike. First one in a very long time for me and first ever on the troll!!! Quite a nice surprise since earlier in the day I said to my daughter I need to catch a pike or musky before the year's up and BOOM, There it is!!!
As we started to make our way back to the ramp I snag something on bottom and break it loose and find out it's a shakespere rod and reel jammed in a big branch! Too bad not a St.Croix!!! Laughing at that feat ended our day at about 4:00pm.
