Team Yellowfin broke Squan inlet at 215am early Saturday morning....we were pulling baits by 430am. As the sun was just cracking the horizon we found ourselves all by ourselves on a Saturday morning in the deep...doesn't get any better than this I thought!!
Well guess what it got way better!!! The first 2 rods of the day go off and Johnny Tuna takes one and his son Cory takes the other....they make quick work of 2 30 pounders!!

Put the rest of the spread back out.....ten minutes later the screen lites up 2 rods go down again.....one comes tight the other unbuttons after a nice run!!

I mark the spot......and start our assault doing figure 8's on this location......Come around again I see loads of marks high in the water column and a few big boys sitting below them.....Bamm one rod goes off ....but after a quick short run it comes unbuttoned!!

I make a poor decision to get away from the piles of longfin because I wanted Mr dream Tuna and the rest of his family before the sun got to high!!!!

Bad decision as the screen becomes totally blank for about a half hour....so I head back to original spot.

Come around the spot again the way way way back goes off but comes un done....then the starboard long squid spreader goes off...at first it didn't start to scream and Im thinking what the hell....then it starts to smoke!! I call my good friend Capt Dave on the Jenny Lee who has been helping us get trips on Captain Evan's Head Hunter (thx again Dave) and let him know we got the right kind on!! Amazingly it was the only one that came up and ate!!

Johnny Tuna volunteers again ( god I love this guy I'm thinking!! What a tuna fishermen ).

We get Johnny buckled in and the battle commences!! Johnny is doing just fine for the first 30 minutes....but then starts to struggle standing and fighting this beast!! I ask him to maybe give the rod up to my son......but he refuses!! ....I think again now that is a tuna fishermen....but he is having trouble keeping his balance...I tell Roy hold on to him as we got at least 30 lbs of drag on the beast!!

Johnny starts moaning and groaning but still refuses to give up the Rod.....What a TUNA MAN!!

After another 20 minutes....Johnny starts to break down....he's complaining about his back....I ask him again to give it up....he finally agrees and my son Dan gets a shot at the brute.....after 15 minutes of some quick short fresh pumps we got him boat side and Roy fires the Dart right into him!!! Not huge by any means but a nice small fatty!!

He is now ours....we bleed him boat side cause Roy(boat owner and my Bro) says no more blood in the boat!! I crack up laughing!! And so does the rest of the crew!! But then again Team Yellowfin is a sweet ride!!

In the mean time we sink another gaff into his head and bleed him out perfectly...we gut him and pack him and put him to rest over the longfins we already have.....I then reach back out to Davey(Jenny Lee) and tell him maybe to come pay us a visit but Davey had a nice trip of his own from the previous day....and wanted to take a peek at the bluefin grounds on the way in!! But his buddy Jimmy takes us up on the invite and so does a few other Cappy's

We get set back up......and again come around and the way way back explodes.....but was definitely not the right kind but a nice one....Todd volunteers for this one...he gets settled in but has 3/4 of a 30 torsa out ....But Todd has done this many times and makes a sweet but quick 20 minute battle of a nice 80 pound yellow belly!!

I now look over to Roy and say lets go find the pointy ones....he looks at me and says next time bro....I got a hot date tonight and we got some fishing cleaning and boat cleaning ahead of us!!

So Roy takes the wheel and starts our run back to the Barn!!

I am catching up on some much needed sleep and start hearing the Bluefin boats and get the itch to stop!! Amazingly he agrees because I promised to let him jig and pop for them!!

We get into the bluefin grounds and I take the wheel.....I quickly make a boo boo and some how cut someones way way back!! Sorry man I owe you one!!... Roy jumps in to cut the mess off the prop...and decides it's too close to Hot date time and requests to blast back in to the Barn!! We are back in the inlet @230pm a little tired but proud of our success!! He makes a call to his neighbor Tommy and requests his presence to help me clean the fish as I am the only one of the crew that can handle that task properly!!

Thank you Tommy for speeding that step up I owe you one!!!

Anyway till the next time in Team Yellowfin Land!!!

Guys we will be switching things up on our charter boat (Big Blue Beast) Head Hunter this week Run by Captain Big Beast Evan and his crew!.....We have gotten a lot of calls inquiring about our marathon trips. But the feedback has mostly been if I can only afford it I would definitely go!! Or my wife or girlfriend lets me go on overnighters but a 3 day trip is hard to get them to agree to!! So we will be taking that part of the schedule down in the open boat forum!! If you have a group of fishing buddies that would like to do a 44 hour marathon the cost will be $5500....Rest assured the trip will probably last longer but be a minimum of 44 hours!! If you book it by Labor Day we will include the tip in the above price!! Open Boat price will $925/person and again if booked by Labor Day that number will include Tip.

For Open Boat overnighters we will run for $725 and that will include tip if booked by Labor day!
Closed Boat overnighters will be $3900.

If you want to be put on our short notice list for Open Boat overnighters and 44 hour marathons I will need your cell numbers and email address....just give me a call @ the number below which is always posted(732)539-7403 or if you can't reach me please call Megan, Captain Evan's Bride @ (732)890-8884 which is listed on our web site!! But always try me first as I am making the schedules out! Also keep your eyes out as we will be posting upcoming overnighters in the Open Boat Forum or our reports!! We will also try to get a schedule up in the Open Boat Forum as well for Open Boat trips!! Thanks to all of you that have already booked trips or Open Boat Spots we appreciate your patronage!!

Guys we will also offer the big Blue Beast for Inshore Bluefin

$2195 for the whole boat and $375/person for open boat spots!

Tight lines to all of you!!

Guys thanks for the nice compliments....we just go out there and hope the fish Gods are on our side when we get there!!:)

Chaos I had to sell it as biz has been tuff lately so work needed a lot more attention. Also it is very hard to earn a living with a Charter boat these days! But Captain Evans boat is one hell of a Tuna Boat....keep us in mind if you want to go offshore!
