Beauty of a day today. The fast drift down Sandy Hook channel yielded a couple keepers but the hits were all one & done - we were drifting too fast for the flukes to come back to re-attack our baits. So we pushed off-shore to the Sandy Hook reef & it paid off well. We had drop & reel conditions for a while and were pleasantly surprised that the off-shore drifiting conditions were far better than in-shore. When we didn't hook-up instantaneously we had to unglue our rigs from the very sticky bottom. Lost a few bucktails and rigs but the action made up for it. Jeff dragged bait today and out-fished me, but I bucktailed all day and got the the biggie at 24+" and 6 pounds on a very sticky Boga. Top 10 weather day and top 10 fishing day for sure :D
It was also nice to see the gang at Brown's in Keyport when we returned. Fin~S Bob and Boston Pete got their limits aboard the LegaSea. Shamrock Eddie was there to tell Jeff that he heard on on News12 that the Grateful Dad ventured off-shore on its longest run to date - good news travels fast
