Went out to the Raritan tonight around 7pm. I was fishing a silver 5 inch Rapala husky jerk in the white water just below the Island Farm Weir from the wall. After about an hour of casting I hooked up with my first Raritan River striped bass about 10 feet off the base of the falls. Not much size to the fish. It was only about 14 to 16 inches but it was something I have always wanted to catch in that river. I got the first one out of the way now and hopefully next spring there will be some big ones :)

Good stuff! I stopped there Wednesday and picked up a 21 inch Striper around noon. There's some big fish in there now. You just gotta figure out what they want!!!:D

FASTEDDIE29 that's awesome. You have caught so many species there this year and so many of them. If you put the time in and work for them you can get some huge fish out of there as you have shown us all.
Ive seen videos of Striped Bass caught at the Robert Street Dam a year or two ago before the dam was removed. So I am sure they will be up in Duke Island Park soon, if they not already there.
Also I went back to the river today to try again, but the river was just too low for those big lures. I lost 2 rapalas today and gave up before i lost even more money. But i will be going back as soon as we get enough rain to bring the river up.
Good Luck!

Saw a pod of about 8 Stripers cruising one of our rivers today. They are there year round, keep note of the tides you get them on, it might help you.

Had the same thing in the Rahway River last week while catfishing. We were using hot dogs on the outgoing tide and all of the sudden a gang of about 10 Stripers goes cruising by, but they were chasing the outgoing bait. They must've been doin around 50 mph. LOL!!!! Stripers are in every river this time of year, just gotta find what they want!!!!!!!!!!!
