I was able to do a lot of Fluke fishing this week.

Sun 8/4. I hit the Deal Surf in the morning from 5:30-8:30AM. I had 2 shorts in the morning, one close by a 1 inch. After that it was time to go South, and went down to Pt. Pleasant and fished the docks where the Norma K III and The Gambler are. I fished through out the outgoing, into slack, and into the beginning of the incoming. I had about 12 shorts, and also found a 18 incher down where the River Belle Boat is docked (good action there with the SW wind making a nice surfice current in the shallow water, around 3:45-4:30 P.M).

Monday 8/5. I fished from 6:30 AM to 12:30 P.M. I Checked out a nice jetty up by the border of Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright and it paid off nicely. I had a nice NW breeze and found most of the fish in a nice pocket facing to the NNW of this jetty. I had 8 shorts and a keeper, and I lost another in the backwash that felt like a keeper possibly. This spot off of the beach is right near the beginning of the Shrewsbury Rocks only a few yards away. I made a bad mistake and left them biting around 8:45 AM to go fish the Shark River Bulkhead off of First Ave. where I thought I could still find cool water as the air temperature was rising. Bad decision with the warm outgoing tide and heat! I should of known. No action expectedly there at all... not going to make that mistake again!

Tuesday 8/6. I started off fishing the Monmouth Beach jetty from the day before around 5:30 AM. I had a good start, nailing an almost 20 incher, after some shorts, right in the wash next to a fully summerged jetty rock at the end of the jetty. Some nice conditions on this day with average 8 Kt SW wind and a dissapating SE swell to make some nice current around the summerged rocks at one of the ends of the jetty. Stuck with it until 10:30 AM with a few more shorts to show for and made a move to Long Branch and fished a jetty in Seven President's Park. I made bait quickly with the snappers and 3rd cast I had a fat keeper to hand. I left around 1:30 after some equipment trouble and wasted time.

Weds 8/6. Afternoon trip, from 4:30PM -8:30 PM. Long story short, I went to the MB jetty to find bad SE wind conditions. So off the the Shark River Bulkhead to get out of the wind and had 1 fish (17") on live snapper.

Today, Friday. I fished down in Pt. Pleasant at the docks again this morning near The Gambler and NKIII. I had 3 fish to 16 1/2 inches on Nuke Chicken and Pink Gulp. Outgoing tide with a little warmer water was a factor for the pick and peck of fish today.

Back at it tommorow.
