Passing this on from another site. I too spent many a night fishing & laughing with Flop.
I was just informed that the late Capt. Robert Steven Foppiano also known as Flop passed away on April 25, 2013. He was a great guy and anyone that knew him would agree with me. I was able to have had the chance to work with him on the Betty W III and IV night bluefishing . We had many many nights of bail jobs with Flop at the helm. He would take the fast Betty W IV wherever they were catching the fish and put the customers on the meat. I remember the color scope lighting up like a christmas tree with tons of bluefish under the boat . Flop also had a great sense of humor. I remember many nights of laughs and good times. I know he will be missed by many Capts. and mates from montauk down to new jersey and anyone else who knew him in other states. So, goodbye friend you will be missed.
