Looking for a recommendation - I'm heading to Maine next week and was hoping to get out and do some fishing. We rented a house near Pemaquid (30 minutes North of Booth Bay and 2 hours South of Acadia National Park).

Hopefully there are some folks on here that have traveled to the area and have some info they can share. I'm interested in stripers/blues, ground fish (like cod/pollock), or other. Could do Tuna and shark - but that would be my third preference. Charter preferred, or party boat. Local tackle shop?

Much appreciated - No Pockets

I visit that area every year, but I fish fresh water, Not much as far as tackle shops go, there are a few charter boats in boothbay, check out the chamber of commerce and it will give you a list of boats. I know there is one called the Black Jack, I have heard good things about but I have never fished with him. Good Luck I wish I was going bak up there! Permanantly!!!!!!!!

Beautitful place Boothbay.. Been a few times but never fished. I do have a few suggestions for you..

- There is a road side Lobster Co-op/resturant a few miles outside of Boothbay on 27 headed towards Southport. It will be on your left as you pass over the swing bridge. Nothing fancy... Kind of place where the lobstermen drop their catch off and you can either buy and take home or they will boil them up for you and you can eat there.

- If you're taking the family and you get a rainy day check out the candlepin bowling alley in Boothbay too.... Very cool old place where time stood still.

- Acadia is definately worth the drive for a day trip. Make sure and bring your camera, take the scenic drive around the park, hike Caddilac Mountain, grab some dinner in Bar Harbor.

Have fun and hope you can get out fishing.

Very few choices in the state of Maine for cod/haddock/pollack.

SASHIMI - Captain Jeff Ritter -207 633-4902 He was there about 3 years ago, about your only choice for ground fish.

Bunny Clark is in Ogunquit, about 2/3 hrs closer to home. No large PB's north of NH.

Saco Bay Bait & Tackle Is a good place to stop and ask about Stripers, etc.. They're not too far off I95 (or I295?).
