Heading down to OBX on the 17th for about a week (Nags Head). Looking to maybe hit a few of the fishing piers down there or maybe a charter if I can find a spot on an open boat charter.
Has anyone fished down there around this time or have any advice where I can find some info, good tackle shops, etc?
Thanks

Go to Oregon inlet, they put open charters together everyday. Good stuff
Wherever your staying at should have the infromation of activities around the area, especially fishing information. I know they catch on the surf lots of Spots, Fluke, Sand Sharks and Croakers. Good luck.

My buddy from Jersey was just on a trip with a boat called the outrigger out of OI yesterday and this was his catch. Said it was the best day on the water he has ever had...and only like 35 miles off. The pic was just of the fish they kept...had a marlin release and numerous mahi releases too. I think they took 500+ lbs back to the dock with them.
Have fun

They do mixed charters from Oregon Inlet and Pirate's Cove. If you can get on the Bi-Op Sea (OI) or the Obsession (PC) I believe you'll enjoy the experience. Fished on both thru the yrs. and always had a good time. PC also offers a party boat, Country Girl, that requires a reservation. It is limited to @26 . Make your res.@PC marina.
Also if you like micro brews check out the FULL MOON in Manteo. Good beer and food.

I'll be down at Hatteras from 8/17 thru 8/31, and will be dragging my Parker 23se. I'll be there with my kids and grandkids, which will be great. From Nags Head you will find several bait shops to give you good info. There are piers, and good surf fishing for spanish mackeral, and bottom fish. At Oregan Inlet you can often get on a charter, but call ahead for a spot. If You venture down on Hatteras Island, you will find the Red Drum B&T on Rt.12, and you can get fishing report from them on line. There probably won't be slob sized stripers at" the point"" this time of year, as I believe it;s a winter fishery. Frisco Rog and Gun B&T also will give you info, but it may be mainly Hatteras. The Albatross Fleet is an old charter boat fleet in Hatteras that offers spots on board, daily. Don't overlook the sound/bay fishing, as there is a good fishery that is not pressured too much, for crabs puppy drum, spec trout/weakfish, red fish, sheepshead( dig sand crabs at the beach first, and they will go CRAZY) You may be able to rent a small boat up there in Nags Head/Avon, and get good info. And bring your killie trap to catch bait. Good luck, and catch ém up.....I love Hatteras and the outer banks. Papa
