:D Had the oppurtunity to go on a 48 hour offshore trip with a kick a$$ crew and an even sicker boat- 21' beam 62' long private boat "Steel Leader". Left Clark's at 5pm Friday got bait and off we went to the canyons... We anchored up once out to deep drop for swords , and shark... No love that night, current was screaming and it was a bit sloppy. No love that night other than squid. Picked up anchor after setting up for troll and off we went at sunrise, troll troll troll. We got 4 mahi total 3 gaffer and 1 dink. They went on the on custom installed ceramic charcoal grill for lunch and dinner, along with chicken , brats, burgers, dogs. Right near the end of Saturdays troll we had longfin come in the spread and went two for two, one at 48 and another at 56 and fat. Trolled past sunset grabbing some skippys and two more mahi. Had a wwb on the tower that had something small on it started to reel in then something else ate it.. Don't know what cause someone forgot to remove the plastic sleeve on the hook -doh... That was it for the not so eventful full day troll. Went to setup for the night chunk on the hook... Nothing to say about that night other than... Really long, that's where it was nice to kick back in the galley watch some DVDs and wait, alternating of course. At two left Jimmy Jam on the deck in his slickers and rubber banded the rods to his arm in case of a hit( figured that would wake him). 4am Sunday - pull hook, troll to tile grounds and drop the 5#ers and Dave's super tile rigs wayyyy down. Instant drop and reel action on a piece about a mile wide..I must say I have never tilefished before nor used an electric reel but am now in love with both! To keep it reel I borrowed crew members Bryan black hole and dropped it down, almost full spool- this is one situation I have to say I don't like depth hunter braid- you see all the colors go by. Down for two minutes then wham fish on-20 minutes later- slob 30# and sore a$$ everything - those rods can put on the heat! All in all the 8 of us totaled apx. 45 tiles most large and jumbos to 46# in 4.5 hours- you want to talk about a trip saver, and a new found love for tile this was it.

Awesome report and boat!

Those black hole rods are sweet. They kill everything from tuna to tiles and everything in between. I have built a lot for guys fishing on private and 6 pack boats and everyone loves them.

Good Stuff !

I met the owner Captain Steve Vicelli a few weeks ago at Clark's !

Steve gave me a Grand Tour from top to bottom

By far this is One of the nicest Boats that I have ever been on.

Great report and pics.

I was about a mile from you guys in the Hudson on Saturday Night and we chatted on the radio.

Sweet boat. From a distance we thought it was the Mimi. We were in a 28 Carolina Classic (Fintastic) were were getting bounced around a lot.

We hooked up on a nice YFT on the troll at dusk and got a Mako the next day on the troll as well. The Sword rod went off at 4 am with a decent Hammerhead Shark (released) and no bites on the overnight chunk.

Crazy, probably saw that same 7'ish hammerhead and all reeled in for the moment, was wondering if you guys got some sleep that night, it was bouncy even on the "tank", the wind against tide was lovely

It was rocking and rolling for sure. The beanbag saved me. I was in the cabin on the floor wedged against the well and it wasn't too bad. I took over chunking at 4 am and that was no fun.

Even better was pulling in 2000 feet of anchor line by hand.

There with ya bro, the 30' of chain didn't want to slide through our buoys, I keep that out of the report , no one wants to hear about the real work involved...half mile of line man handled on the buoy!!

Lol , it was an Alabama day boat then went to Florida no need at 300' rode max, now... Capt. Steve will be hooking one up with a dual anchor pulpit : it's definitely on the "to do" list. That put the iron in ironman trip for sure!! But still well worth it!
