Fishing remains as good as we’ve ever seen it. Since our last report which carried us through Wednesday-Thursday of last week we were able to get in 4 more overnighters on each of the Canyon Runner boats and capture another 7 big-eyes and 130 yellowfin. That brings our total to 36 big-eyes for the season and we are still in July! Seriously the best we’ve ever experienced.

Whether it’s a combination of an epic big-eye bite or the new trolling pattern we are using which includes 6 Canyon Runner spreader bars in the pattern with bigger squids and 2 squid dredges – we don’t look to change anything anytime soon except for the fact that we are fishing WMO and the bars will have to be taken out of the water. Hopefully fishing remains as good as it is right now.

Recent Reports:
July 26-27 saw the 60 Ritchie with Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Capt. Craig Angelini fishing the Washington Canyon with the Steve Mahedy charter and they nailed their big-eye and 30 yellowfin right there on the east wall where everyone has been for weeks now. The 48 Viking with Capt. Dean Lambros and Capt. Joe Miele took the Ross Goldberg charter right there as well for a 240# big-eye and 11 yellowfin.

July 27-28 saw the 60 Ritchie and the Bob Strucuzzi charter go without a big-eye and the 48 Viking with the Tony Sanito charter also did not capture a big-eye and this was a first for our boats in weeks as at least one boat captured a big-eye each day we were there. They did get 12 yellowfin on each boat in the Washington but things were looking like they were drying up.

July 29-30 saw both boats look to the North and up the line a few canyons and they caught their big-eyes again with the 60 Ritchie catching 2 from 175-200 pounds and 10 yellowfin and the 48 Viking catching 1 and a dozen yellowfin. The yellowfin were slightly nicer than the ones caught in the Washington.

July 30-31 saw the boats repeat on their big-eye production once again with the Vince Barbra single man charter on the 60’ Ritchie nailing a nice 200 pounder and 24 yellowfin (only keeping 3) and the open boat charter on the 48 Viking nailing one around 225 pounds and 17 yellowfin.
