Got to the Paramount to find a big crowd of mostly inexperienced fisherman. I had a few small fluke at the dock and lost one small bluefish, all on tiny live snappers. First drop had a quick shot of triggerfish and ridiculous tangles. We had to leave because of the fishermen, not the lack of fish. Lots of 2oz sinkers and other nonsense going on. Some sea bass drifts led to a slow pick of fish. Later in the day, the ling drops had some sporadic life along with big flounder. Pool was was a very nice 16lb cod caught by a first timer who only caught one other fish all day. I wound up with a trigger, 3 keeper sea bass, 13 ling and 5 jumbo throwback flounder. A couple of others had a dozen or so mixed fish plus there were 2 other 5lb cod caught. Think we could have had a fair catch with some more decent fishermen.
Saw more stupidity on the boat today than the last few years combined. Not the crews fault, but I'm not sure how there people find there way to the boat in the morning. Top tips learned today are don't vomit in the bow while the boat is moving, don't walk over the anchor ropes while anchoring six or seven times after being warned, don't reel up your fish and leave it hanging outside the boat for 10 mins while fishing your second outfit, don't sit on the anchor box and rope while the crew is trying to anchor and don't leave your ling on the deck for two hours when you have a cooler full of ice..
