Day started early as we broke the inlet around 4, made the short jog out to the bass grounds under beautiful conditions.. Arrived at the grounds in the dark, started looking around, ran down the line and by this time it just started to get light out... And.... Splash kurplunk.. Splash... Big bAss began chasing rain fish and sandells..... We were casting 7-9in bomber poppers.. And smack one on after another, catching 2-4 bass on every drift.. Top water stripers!! Is there anything better?????... Guess everyone wants to know where this was??? Ok ok it was the promised land..... Block islands north rip... Wow there is some body of fish up there and to see these aggressive fish crushing these plugs is just awesome!! .. Great day and I had the pleasure of going with board member rnc whome I met for the first time...we had around 22 keepers and 6 shorts and lost just as many for myself and Russ.. After the tough spring here at home with the bass it was a welcomed relief to see acres of birds and that around of life again
Great trip Sam - thanks for the invite - glad you got your breakout striper trip for 2013, albeit a little late in the season LOL.
What we were pitching to the stripers were 9" white salt water zara spooks with rattles on light spinning gear. Spooks long famous for fresh water bassing with the famous "walk the dog" sideways action. Watching the big bass blow up on them today was incredible.

Nice job. It's a shame that most of "our" bass migrated along the edge of the mud hole this year, right up to Montauk and Block

You are right fellas, that's how I see it as many of my buddies do not.. I love nj but in the middle of July it sure is nice to take that short ride up there.. Prob going to do another one in a couple weeks but split it for bass and some knot heads

You had me going there Chef.... I thought What?? A bass bite going on here in NJ??
Glad you guys had a good trip and lets hope they decide to come in close here in the Fall...
Was not too many years ago, all we'd catch were rats in the Spring and bigger fish were in the fall....Let's hope that is the case this fall...

I never bass fished up there, I assume its the same , sometimes different areas use different methods. Do they have limits and rules like we do down here or is it unrestricted?

No the same rules as nj except no bonus fish... Crocs do not work up there as there are not alot of bunker and what ones that do migrate are of the peanut class.. Mostly sandells and rain fish. I assume herring too.... It sure is one heck of a Eco system up there.. Loaded with life....jmurr- nice I love my s Philly cheese steaks.. Talk of the town is my favorite
