I was finally able to land a sheepshead. I've had a couple on over the past summers but they always break off on the structure. I got this one today at Townsends Inlet. 22 inches 8.6 pounds.

Thats a huge one !! I cant believe the State record is 17 pounds, thats crazy. Great catch, you are on a roll !!!

That is a huge Sheepshead :eek: :eek: Never even knew we had them here in NJ. Fished for them down in FL a few times. Great fighters and even better table fare.

Nice catch, that's an untapped fishery,lots of those bad boys from PP south.State record was caught under the route 72 bridge in manahawkin.

They've been catching sheepshead for the past several years at Barnegat Inlet and the Rt. 72 Bridge over Barnegat Bay.

It was released. Put right in the live well and raced over to the bait shop. Weighed it, took pics and let her swim off,
