Tenacious Sportfishing

Took my son Roland, grandson Alec, Gary, George, Jaque and Dan in search of Charlie amid bad canyon reports and questionable weather. Plan A was to troll from the Toms to the Lindy and overnight near the Lindy. Tried trolling south in the 3-6's and decided to invoke Plan B. Turned around and started trolling toward the Hudson in 76 degree green water. Halfway to the Hudson we trolled a nice mahi on a purple and black spreader and had one other bite which did not come tight. 7 miles from 150/050 the same spreader went off and Dan started reeling on a nice fish. 10 minutes later a 40 lb yellowfin was on ice. 30 minutes later a green and yellow zucker got bit and George reeled in a small Bluefin which was released.Except for some wales and porpoises there was no more action and we anchored for the night in the southwest corner. The night bite chunking and sharking was non existent and we started trolling at 6:00 am up the west wall. We encountered whales and porpoises but no more bites and when we reached the tip we headed for home with a west wind on the nose. Everyone felt it was good to get out even though the fishing was slow and the weather/water was disappointing. We also know it will get better and we can't wait to do it again! Sorry, no photos, the captain forgot his camera.
