had the annual Pennypack crabbing trip on the philthy oar. got a late start as my first mate overslept due to fireball & a booty call. Got to dividing creek loaded the boat & were under way b 7:25. Had to make a long run due to low salinity levels boat was moving at -3knots so it took forever. finally got where we wanted to be got set up & only had 6 nice James' in about 35 minutes so I made a move to a little outflow & we started picking pretty good including alot of BIG James' had a few 6 1/2-7 inchers & real rusty & heavy. picked about a 1/4 bushel here until it dried up so we made another run next stop added another half dozen then nothing but lil guys made another move put another half dozen then ran back to where we sarted & topped off what we had. Had over 1/2 a bushel, totaled about 50 crabs for the day. I talked to the guy at the dock he said 1 boat had a full bushel but they were out before 6am......... other then that catches were grim only a dozen or 2 per boat after hearing that i felt better.Bunker & squid handlines caught the most, trap with chicken caught the biggest @ 7 1/4! outgoing water was screaming and dirty lookd like river water!
