With every boat owning person is the state going to the big lakes for the 4th, we decided a ride to Swartswood would be a better choice. Grabbed 4 dozen herring from Dow's and headed up to Sussex County. Got on the water just as the sun was going down. Played with herring and jigs all night and had relatively consistent action. Ended up with a total of 4 Walleye 20"-24", lots of Catfish and Crappie and a few big Eels mixed in. Overall decent night. Happy Independence Day.

Great fish, pics and report!!! If you can't catch a Walleye at Swartswood, it just wasn't meant to be. Swartswood is a Walleye aquarium!!!

I love night fishing man, less boat traffic, less fisherman, more peaceful and most of the time more fish. I believe there was one other boat out on the water, but he was setup on the complete opposite end of the lake as us. Seeing sunrise and sunset from the boat is something everyone in this overcrowded, shopping mall obsessed state should experience at least once in their lives!

Nice fish man. I'd love to catch a walleye. Was thinking about hitting one of the smartswood lakes next weekend. Is little smartswood decent? Smallies in there?

You know we hold down the Zombie shift with ease Eddie. Old man still got it in ya?!
Lets plan a night and get a couple boats out there for some nighttime Wily Walleye Mayhem. We had one very bright advantage working for us, pretty cool stuff. Throw me a PM.

I have never fished little swartswood yet but I believe flyboy is the man to speak to about that place. Tiger muskie in there so always worth a shot in my opinion. Big Swartswood has nice smallies from what I have heard as well. It's the walleye that keep me going there though.

The bites gonna slow soon so if you boys wanna do a nite trip nows the time. LH spawn is already over same with most lakes. Swartswood always has nite action in the right place right time. I got the little boat ready to go just say when and dont forget we need a little contest going $$ :)

Skunk is absolutely correct concerning Walleye at Big Swartswood, considered a lunker/trophy lake for Eyes....
Little Swartswood ironically has more to offer than Big Swartswood... Little Swarts has large and small mouth... Eyes, Tiger trout (hybrids), Tiger Musky, perch (white/yellow), cats, Pickeral, etc... I have fished both Big and Small Swartswood equally and I personally have had better success in little swartswood in the amount and quality of Largemouth Bass... In the past 2 years I have caught several largemouth Bass over 6lbs.... I have only caught a few smallies.. I seem to have better luck with smallies in Big Swartswood.... IMHO, Little Swartswood does not get nearly as much pressure as Big Swartswood does so I believe the quality and quantity produces better in Little Swartswood as far as Largemouth are concerned.. I have never tried for Eyes in LIttle Swarts but they are in there as well as the elusive Tiger Musky and Tiger Trout.....
