Got Sent Home This Afternoon

Worked hard today so I could go for Stripers on the Prowler V at 3:30. Got lunch, got ice, got to boat 1 hour early. Only 5 customers showed up. Capt. said that he needed 12 to sail .... OH WELL

Wish you could have hung around till 6:30 and sailed with Capt. Dan....I hate wasting ice!:)
Weather reports have been killing everyone, we sailed last night with only 8 customers, not easy for any business, you certainly need thick skin no matter what you do......I could use a new dock sign, if you happened to take notice??

Happened to me once on the Paramount, only 7 of us at the dock ready to go but they needed 10 to sail, luckily there was enough time to hop on another boat which saved the day.

Its a tough call for them either way . cant expect them to run if they cant cover expenses.

But on the other side of the coin , it sucks when you take an afternoon off, Get everything together , drive down there just to turn around.
Many times I think If those boats still sailed, there would be more times guys who got out , would make the trip again on a ? night and give them the amount of fares they need more often .

I know the few times when I got out with a smal crew like that , had me going back on another day just to say thanks.

Guess the Captains get the same feeling , when people walk off a quickly filling boat , not wanting to fish in a crowd.

On the "bright" side, you didn't miss anything other then T storms & porgies though Dan certainly put in the effort for the stripers with so few people.
