I fished a lot of different areas again today and found fish in all but it took all day to scrape a catch together. A couple of 5 pou8nd fluke tied for the pool today. One caught by Joe Byers from Toms River and the other by George Talnagi from Clayton. Bait was bes again today with Greg catching 4 keepers.

CHARTERED TOMORROW FRIDAY

THANKS CAPTAIN GEORGE

What Can I say - I did extremely well for a googan on a first time spinner . I have been conventional bucktailing for years ( and suck at it ) but after watching some of the regulars and others I had to give it a shot . Picked up a penn battle ( 4000) and tried the new power pro ( super 8 slick 30 lb blue) and thank you Jeff-N-Jeff - gave it a shot.

I struggled all morning more than usual - started out with a spro-high -low 2oz. on the bottom and bait holder 24" above with all colors of gulp naked and skirted. Could not get the feel , could not hit bottom and just up and down googan , dropping fish , missing fish and just RRRRRRRRRRRr-tipical day for me. Finally with the help of Bill ( Thank you for the 411 and LJ - little Joey for the B-tailing tips ) finally got the hang- of it , wound up shortning my high low throughout the day going to a 3 oz glo-spro and using chartruese 3/4" gulp tipped with spearing . IMHO - spearing has been key this year . Finally went 3 for 5 bucktailing on a day when bait outfished bucktailers.

This was my first real attempt to bucktail with a spinner and now I know why people do it , took a while but by the end of the day , I had better hooksets, more fish , better casting and more keepers.

The penn battle 4000 is AWESOME and no issues with the new power pro at all - the only thing that really sucked is that in the AM - it was Africa hot with no breeze, hot and humid and the green-heads didnt stop until the wind kicked in the afternoon . Had a great day and I am convereted to spinning reels . Still love my conventionals but hey we fear change and took me years to do it and glad I did.

I got double Gorskied/Glumkied and I loved every minute of it

2 of my 3 keepers - 3rd was taken on the last drift and didnt make the picture - was my biggest - :D - and that is the gentleman ( back and to the left ) - Bill - who was kind enough to share his knowledge of bucktailing with me - Thank you again SIR - BTW - The Sharpies/Fishy people on the Angler are some of the best and they are nice and kind enough to share there knowledge and have been doing it for years - Thank you all on the Angler - Captain . Crew and most of the patrons - ;)

Gdubs - See you all On Sunday - :D
