Was out again with Blackfish Doug and a decent cast of characters. Overall fishing was a slow pick. The way the boat was laying favored the bow and stern but most of the rental rods were in those areas. Most people had 12-15 mixed fish up into the low 20s. Fish were not happy and dropping off a lot on the way up. I wound up with 2 sea bass and 14 ling, mostly large, Doug had 16 ling, mostly not large.:D Dennis Stock won the pool with a 6lb cod and also had 2 sea bass and 17 ling. Other than Doug, the majority of the ling caught were 2-3lbs, my largest was 4lbs and there were quite a few others around this size. It was one of those days where it was a grind but you ended up with a nice fillet bag at the end of the day. However the flounder and pout fishing was excellent at times.

Yes it was. I should add that fishing was quite good yesterday. I spoke with a group of 3 who were back again today and they had 30 sea bass and 50 ling on Sunday.

Jumbo blackbacks. I only had one a around 2 1/2lbs and that was a bit below average size out there. Some guys had to let 3 or 4 go.

Last two days fishing indicate I picked the "bad" day of the week. Given the future forecast for next week, just hoping to get out. Damn weatherman needs to try a new forecast soon.

Your day was not quite as bad as mine was I got no Sea Bass not even a short. This is a very strange year I never seen the Sea Bass bite like this. I really do think the effects of the hurricane has changed the way the inshore Sea Bass bite has been. The fish are not aggressive with the bite they are nibbling at the bait & not staying on when hooked. It also could have been the effects of this last moon but the last 4 trips I did I had the same same results with the Sea Bass bite.

Cold bottom temps have a lot to do with lack of an aggressive sea bass bite. When you are catching ling drifting in 30 feet, it is still pretty cold down there.
