We are once again running a one day tilefish trip for beginners on the Voyager. The date for this trip is thur. night Aug 8 for fishing on the 9th. Aug 15/16 is the weather date. Please make sure you can make both dates. Our first trip was a huge success with everyone catching tilefish. There were even 3 tilefish in the 40lb class boated. The cost for the trip is $300.00 per person. If we cannot fill the trip with beginners, we will open it up to everyone. The trip is limited to 21. Everyone gets a bunk and there is plenty of room at the rail. Please call us for more information and to make your reservations.

Hey Guys,

I stopped by Friday at the Reel Seat and dropped my check off for this upcoming trip. I wanted to mention that Dave is also offering the Tile seminar again the weekend before. The last one I was at answered all of the questions about tackle, bait, rods, reels, etc. That was also my first on the Voyager and the crew is top notch! I'm looking forward to another great trip... :D

Maybe have a shot at some tuna out there the way they're reporting. Big action jigging bluefins in the 50 lb class off Cape May from Kil on a ns charter.

Dan, the tilefish gfrounds are not located anywhere close to where the bluefins are being jigged. However, I just got back wed morning from a 2 1/2 day tile trip and there were close to a dozen nice sized mahis caught along with a mako pushing 135lbs. And btw, there were some big slob tiles caught on this trip!

We will have whole squid and bluefish strips, and mackeral strips. Your welcome to bring whatever else you want. Salmon strips sometimes are very effective too.

The trip has been sold out for at least 2 weeks. We will be scheduling more trips next year as the Voyager starts their tuna schedule in late August and it runs thru November.

For everyone on the trip, don't forget our free seminar this Sunday at 2:00pm at the shop. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your rod and reel so we can make sure it can handle the heavy sinkers you will be using. This is not a sales pitch as we have 3 loaner outfits in case your equipment is not strong enough.

I would love to come down to your shop tomorrow Dave, just too far to drive for the day without a trip on the other end to justify. I am good with my tile outfit, my buddy may need a loaner if we get in over 600'. Starting a weather watch for next Friday. Keeping my fingers crossed for good weather.;)

Dave, I see you're on right now, just wanted to say thank you for your rigs, if you check a post of mine you'll see why, anyway thank you and guys... It's ok to use 5#s it gets you down faster anyway, the glo tube circle hook double rig was killing them! I recommend to stop and get a few and a 5# block just so you get down faster, pull it out of the mud, light bounce on drift then frees pool for a few, then tighten up and bring em in

I've got 3s but no 5s. Boat should have some I guess. Is it ok to double up say a 2 and a 3 or is that too bulky?

What I did on a trip that I was scheduled back in May, which was cancelled. I had 18, 20 and 25oz flats. I taped two together with electrical tape. I crimped 100lb line through the holes. I had a friend utilize them he had no problem with it. If you need to use 5lb of lead you better bring some Ben gay. Their is going to be a lot sore arms. Good luck!

But at least we get another shot next week.:D After talking with Dave, I'm kind of glad they made the call because of how much the drift affects the fishing. We'll get 'em next week.
