Its already stale after it coolsfrom being baked. My father in law has a place on the Island of Ischia, right down the corner from the house is the bakery. Nothing like walking over around 3pm getting a loaf right out of the oven to eat 5 mins later with a nice bowl of linguini con vongole!

Question 2: Since nobody else has done it, I'll do it ...

CAN I CALL DIBS ON STELLIES SPOT AT THE BOW? :D

Gentlemen, I would blame this whole weather/wind day change thing on Greg V. When we started fishing together, a while back, he took pitty on me while others were ridiculing me for bringing my girlfriend Gale on most of my trips. Well it seems that Greg, being the charmer that he is managed to steal my girl away from me.

Thank you Greg!:p

How many trips is this now that you have been blown out of?

No wonder she left you! You treated her like a cheap floozy and she went for a classy guy. But I'm not worried, I am already in a committed relationship and do not cheat. Gale seems to be stepping out every chance she gets this winter, but don't worry, Gale has been your girl for so long that she can't make it without you. She'll be back on you like stink on S**t , and she will be pissed that you are talking trash about her!

Speaking of talking trash, thanks for throwing me under the bus, Pal. Now I'm going to keep #5's sister's boat pic and send it to LAB, He already has a pic of the girl.:D

Don't know about the fish......it's been tough with the cold water et al BUT I gotta say

We're gonna eat like KINGS!

I will miss some of the regulars that usually fish with us but it's nice to see some other members from the site taking their spots! Some I've fished with before while others I only know from reading your reports on this site. I look forward to tomorrow.

ALL are invited to dine "like Gentlemen" at the OB Diner at 4:30 - Dutch Treat

We have three bushels of whiteleggers and Tautag1 is bringing some hermits.
I'll SUGGEST we begin fishing with the boat's greens to see if we find life before using up our STASH BAIT. Also, we won't be monitoring the whites but PLEASE only take what you can keep in your pockets. It'll be cold and they'll die easily if kept in an open bait pail.

Everyone that can "play well with others" see my previous post.

BABY AL - I will meet you in the parking of the OB DINER and give you YOUR whiteleggers. I will pick them out myself (oh yeah baby) and will ask the waitress once we're inside if YOU can have some cocktail sauce to go with YOUR crabs.

BTW - you've become quite a HATER. Paulie volunteers to bring some hermits and there YOU go questioning "how many do I get". It ain't all about YOU, Baby Al! The guy works on a lobster boat and is bringing crabs; stop whining.

ALOT of changes to the Roster soooooooooooooooooooo

NEW ODDS:

I'm going to break precedent and put odd on The House (I "no".....LAB LIMIT yada yada yada but...). I'm due dammit! I'll hafta split the $ with 3 other HRU members, as per the rules but that's all good. 5:1

Cool Hand Fluke - 1:1 he smiles all day but he's got the same odds of catching the pool fish as the Giants do winning back-2-back Superbowls. 1,000:1

Cool Hand's Guest - No Data - off the board

Alan B - He's a PROFESSIONAL but his profession is getting fares on fish and making them happy. NO WHERE does it say HE can fish (LOL). And he'll PROVE that Sunday on the Mimi 99:1

Boston Pete - Cried like a baby that I moved the trip from today until tomorrow. He won't be crying tomorrow when the dust has settled 1:1

Peanut Butter & Jelly John - After hearing him fill my head with how he bytch-slapped everyone last Sunday and how he already had a couple 10#ers on The Beanhead and yada yada yada (my ears were bleeding), he ALMOST had me believing the hype. THEN I saw him park his boat on the trailer and I came back to Earth. 10:1

Smokey Joe - Odds his food is better than Baby Al's venison stew 1:1. Odds we stuff ourselves "eating like cannibles" at the table in the Mimi cabin 1:1. Odds he wins the pool "When Hell Freezes Over" 200:1 Got Cocktails??

Shrimpman Steve - Fresh off a hack-fest in Delaware and ready to prove himself......ON SHRIMP 999:1; on ANY crab 25:1

Dave Tats - Odds you'll want to introduce this clean-cut KID to your daughter are MUCH better than him catching a pool fish 15:1

Baby Al - He'll be sooo worried about how his venison stew stacks up against Da Brisket, he'll be off his game. "is the bread fresh?" WHO CARES?? Give me Chef Boy R Dee and Wonder Bread; JUST FISH! 10:1

Scott Kearny - MY HERO, PUOSU CHAMP, Fellow HRU Member. He is fearless in any weather, sneaky as a spy and dangerous as a blitzing linebacker. He does NOT "swing" on his fish like the "PROs" do.......he lifts. BUT he's the reigning champ and deserves the kudos........3:1

IROC - Chris "S.A.M." Iraci - just back from 3 cities in 4 days on business. PMed me he was "a go for MONDAY". If the bergalls are chewing, he'll be swinging more than Jeremy Irons in a porn flick. But he thinks a POOL is something he swims in 500:1

FinS Bob - What can you say......they man has had a dream blackfish season. HERE'S WHAT I SAY........"IT'S OVAH BOOBY, GO HOME AND SHARPEN UP YOUR LAWNMOWER BLADES" 10:1

Tautog1 - Paulie's new to this crew. He's a Professional Fisherman (hey do you pin-hook lobster? LOL) and a Professional Wrestler (we WILL have him arm wrestle Baby Al). But I have a standing rule that anyone with enough EGO to had TOG in his username has to PROVE IT to me......25:1

Baccala - OMG......he hasn't been fishing in months. He's been in the GYM (note to PB&J and FinS - this is NOT Jim's All You Can Eat Buffet) and is in "fighting shape" but he doesn't have Stelios to block the wind and tell him where to toss his crabs. SEE prior odds directed to Skolman about "losing ur azz". 50:1 and that's a gift

KUP - another newcomer. Met him in the Reach while fluking with Bobber. I have NO clue as to his prowess but let's just say he's OUT OF HIS LEAGUE here. 999:1

Blind Archer - Doug is a quiet guy (like me) who let's his fishing do his talking (like me). He may NOT be the quickest guy on the computer "Doug, I posted in TWO threads, PMed you AND emailed you - YOU ARE IN" but he CAN fish. I fished with him and Solemate last year on Mimi..........9:1

ALS Mako - Steve WILL take the S.A.M. title from IROC and MAY actually catch A keeper but win the pool???????? Has anyone heard the saying "when cows fly" before?????? 500:1

ToggyTime - Showed me skills last time out. Skills AIN'T pool fish. Put some pepperoni, sausage and onions on your pizza 'cause you ain't bringing home a Pool Fish for dinner 15:1

GetJiggeyWifItFish - A tag team of Jiggy and EagleYank Tony COMBINED ain't catching TWO fish to equal Sunday's Pool Fish. He's ain't caught a short since he last sailed with Fish Monger Charters. RUMOR has it he was offered the job of Galley Ho on The Bandit last weekend????? (now, WHO'S funnier than me?). but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. 55:1

bEagleYankFan - As stated above, Tony hasn't got a chance in Hell of catching the pool fish. Bring the Eagle Rod Tony........we'll be fishing in 25'; ha ha ha. and you ain't "aloud" in the bow dammit! 88:1

NoodleRod Tommy - WAY overdue for a big fish. Tommy won't even SWING unless the fish picks up his sinker and starts swimming away (take note IROC). BUT IROC is bringing his home-made Dag@ Red Wine and Tommy will be smiling before noon. Pool fish will be caught in the PM. 6:1

Odds are Final

Tomorrow Evening's Pool Winner Picture will looks like this:

jigamafish has one order of business. Tangle with everybody else freeing up time for me to fish alone. Point number 2: I've file ALL my flounder hooks and tied my heli-snafu rig. It's a snafu rig with 2 floating hooks above each hook in the snafu rig. 4 flounder hooks, 2 in 1 whole white crab and 2 greenies off each floater(helicopter) hook. It'll look like 2 greenies trying to rob a white crab and cop blackfish comes in to save the day and I win the pool. It's that simple really. Now, I think my odds should go up .. at least 87.9:1.

Game plan is to start the day with a yo dollar fish that weighs 14lbs and hit the cabin to eat the rest of the day. Odds of puking: 2:1.

See everyone in the AM. I'll bring some chips to munch on.

you two guys will certainly have alot of room.........NO ONE is gonna wanna fish next to you.

Do you guys bounce your sinkers alot to wake up the fish??? I heard THAT'S a good idea!! It works BEST in the stern.

If THIS guy puts his pole in the rod holder next to you............MOVE FAST

eagleyankfan
01-24-2009, 07:41 PM
You HAVE to bounce the sinkers. 2oz bounce the best. How else do you call them in? It's bounce, bounce, bounce, pause. Bounce, yank hard, bounce. It's like jigging. I hope I didn't give the secret out. I figured everybody knows anyway. If you drop down and feel sand, bounce faster. If on a rock, lift and drop so it free falls.

I heard bouncing is best by the anchor ropes. If you bounce up there, use as much as 3 oz. on the port side.

Another secret a sharpie(my grandma) taught me was to ONLY use crab legs. King crab legs work best. I put 4 hooks into 1 leg and drop it down to bounce.

Not THAT picture with THAT boat in the background. Oh, the stories.

1/2 dozen of us met for French Toast at OB Diner and the ball breaking began there.

Everyone met at the boat and Kimmy took PBJ's spot. While not as cute as Johnny B, she did fish hard all day in his honor!!!

We headed SOUTH and DEEP; outta site of land and were fishing well before 8am. On the way out we had a detailed discussion of which sections of the boat would be in the shade. Well I guess my muddled brain IS a match for the FOUR DEGREES ROCKET SCIENTIST Scooter. He tried to convince me (and everyone else) that the sun is in the SOUTH in the winter. Everyone got in the $10 pool (took a little coaxing to get SOMEONE to pony up the $10) and we started fishing.

It was cold in the shade but before I wised up, FinS Bob won the all important Dollar Dollar Bill Yo. It really wasn't bad in the sun, honestly. Don't get me wrong, it was friggin' cold but fishable. We just had to convince the fish of this. Shorts and small keepers with everyone running inside the cabin during moves/wiggles to slam down some Pulled Pork or Brisket or Venison Stew (ALL STELLAR).

There were donuts and danish and Red Wine, White Wine, 18 year old Scotch (yes Baby Al, Scotch IS whiskey) to keep spirits high.

Mid morning we started to get a little bite going (key word little) but it wasn't enough. Kenny moved us 4 miles south and a little deeper.

Tautog1/Paul and FinS - WHO'S got better T Shirts???????

John, Cool Hand/Al, ToggyTime/Doug and IROC/Chris

Getting that LAST $10 was tough for Chris

Baby Al took the big fish EARLY lead (he always does then fades). ALS Mako caught a nice 6+#er then Shrimpman caught one almost as big. The current was pushing the baits towards the stern and that's where they bit best. NoodleRod was midships and I looked up towards him. He was just standing there with his pole in his hand with the tip bouncing hard. I yelled, You gonna reel that fish in or what? and he retorted "yeah, after it stops taking drag".

Fish around the same size as ALS's . Measured on digital later had Tommy's fish an ounce or two heavier.

Shorts and Keepers intermittently all over the boat.

GOOD bottom ALL day long!!! I love fishing south!

We finished up on a slow note but we were ready by then. Kenny will sail tomorrow then close up for awhile.

Final Line

33 Keepers

ALS Mako and NoodleRod Tommy tied for the pool.........the scale just stayed straight up and down, even after switching the fish (NO CHRIS, that's the same side).

We had a GREAT TIME, fished with friends and made new ones.

Special Thanks to all who brought food and drinks; sorry if I miss names: Smokey Joe, Baby Al, FinS Bob, Dave Tats, NoodleRod Tommy (Kimmy loved the scotch), IROC and Baccala!!!

Breakdown of keepers.

John ? 0, Cool Hand 2, Netkeeper 0 (and he WILL learn that you don't take a nap if you sleep as solidly as he does, LATER), Pete 1, Smokey Joe (good food Tom), Shrimpman 3, Dave Tats 3, Baby Al 4 (The ONLY Limit), Scooter (oh how the mighty have fallen), IROC 2, LAB 1 (duh a LAB LIMIT), FinS 2, Tautog1 1, Baccala 3 (and he woulda limited out if he measured a few of his "shorts"), Kup 3 (a good showing for the new guy), Blind Archer (uh Doug, the same number of keepers as bites?), ALS Mako 2 (and the pool - ALS means "a long snot"???) CONGRATS on Splitting Pool @ 500:1, Toggytime (uh, hmmmm and you wanna know why I wear a patch?......THIS CROWD IS BRUTAL), EagleYankFan Tony 1, Jiggy Joe 2 (blind squirrel finds 2 nuts), NoodleRod 2 (and NOT until he broke open the scotch) and Kimmy 1.

Kenny kicked the engines into gear and we got back with daylight to spare. My Ugly Stick did catch a little spray on the way in as witnessed in pics after I put it in my garage. Gonna need to take it in the shower.

THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T FALL ASLEEP. ESPECIALLY AS A NEW GUY.

ToggyTime/Doug........can you imagine what these ANIMALS would do to ME if I got sea sick and started puking over the rail???

Congrats to ALS Mako and Tommy on their pool winners, you guys did great. Was a little jealous watchng ALS Mako bailing what seemed like a lot of fish from the port corner, and Tommy with his drag pulling beast:eek: . I was pleased by the bottom that we had even up front, but just couldn't get the bite working, 'cept for the bergals, of which were chewing really hard early.

Had a blast meeting Tautog 1 (Steve) and Kimmy (both beat me at poker and blackjack), delicious BBQ from Smokehouse Steve, shrimp fishing lessons from the other Steve, Boston Pete feeding me some nice stogies, Lab (who also beat me in blackjack) with all the laughs and for letting me school him in geology (even though not my subject); he is right, we did have shade for 1 drop with a North wind and hard north current, but that got straightened out shortly after :o , but wouldn't let me live it down.

Thanks to everyone who showed and to all the support during my recent life event. You guys make me laugh:) and its a privelege to have such great friends sharing our passion on the sea...

Mikey...like you need to hear...great report and summed up perfectly.

I have to give Jersey Joe (Tom) props for the food today. It was top notch and I enjoyed every bite...and bite...and bite...etc! You went ALL out brother.

Thanks to Paulie for sparing my teeth. :D I paid alot of dough for 'em. Turns out he is a hell of a nice guy and spiced up the trip a bit.

Was good to get in one more trip this season before I hang it up til Flounder...and what a better group of guys to do it with. Lots of laughs all day even though the fishing was less than "Fuego".

Tom(aka Tommy 200), DUDE, that was some serious food, my brother!!!! You dropped some big bucks on us hacks. Thank you!

Razz, the stew was all that, too!!!!

It was an all out throw down in the galley today!

Although the fish didn't cooperate, the company was great. I got to meet some new faces today, as well as fish with some old friends.

  Don't leave me hangin Fin s....

Wow...I had a great time. The food was..well, I said we were gonna eat like Vikings and we did.. I guess Lab didn't get a pic of Scotty piling the pulled pork on his potato roll with his fingers. He ate like TWO vikings. Lots a laughs had by all.

Things I learned today. (to borrow Labs favorite catch phrase)
1. THE most important thing NOT to do on one of these trips is fall into a deep sleep,as was stated earlier. So far, Lab is being QUITE kind about his choice of pics.
2. If we have many more of these trips I'm gonna gain 40 lbs.
3. This crew is a rough bunch..and it doesn't matter if women are aboard. If you don't have very thick skin, stay FAR away.
4. If Lab wouldn't gab so much while fishing,he MIGHT catch a few more than the "lab limit".
5. It was my pleasure fishing with all of the gentlemen (and one lady) on todays trip. Just a great bunch of fishermen to spend a day with. Thanks.

Things Baby Al learned today:

1. I don't care WHO is on the boat, I speak my mind

2. My mind is warped but I AM fair

3. Are you saying I can't talk and fish at the same time? I gave my fish to Scooter anyway. So did Tommy. Scooter didn't catch a fish but went home with more filets than anyonej!!!

4. I'm taking advice from a guy who chews nicorette gum and smokes heavy-duty menthol butts AT THE SAME TIME???

Very long day...but a lot of fun. Thanks for your efforts in setting the trip up lab. Yes I only had three keepers, but I would have had my limit if I wasn't using a saftey pin for a hook! My limit fish saw the boat, took a dive and straightend my hook! I will NEVER buy laser sharp eagle claws again! In fact throwing away the ones I have left! The shrimp worked well today, as along with my 3 (4) keepers I had 6 or 7 shorts. Not a great day, but it looked like I had more action then others.

Smokey, thanks for the doggie bag:D.

Alan I appologize in advance if certain pictures are posted, if they are not just forget I said anything:D.

It was a pleasure fishing with all of you today, and look forward to next season.

Thanks to Smokey Tom and Mick for the delicious food! Tom - you gotta look into re-establishing a BBQ joint in Point Pleasant Beach - I'd be there everyday after sampling your food today. Great job with the deer stew Mick, mouth watering!

Thanks to Capt and Chris for an all-out effort despite fish not cooperating - it's easy to see why your boat has such a stellar reputation.

Thanks Lab for putting this together. Chris and Capt Ken did a great Job putting us on some good structure and being willing to pull up and move if things died down.

I have a couple of questions.

How come Steve keeps the shrimp all too himself? Perhaps it would he was afraid that they would be gone in a couple of minutes and none would wind up on a hook.

Why did you guys pick on Alan? He such a quiet yet friendly guy. I can tell you I'll never go to sleep on a boat with you guys.

I noticed LAB all fishing from every spot on the boat at one time or other. Was he?
A: Following the sun to keep warm.
B: Making the rounds like a bride at a wedding to make everyone feel welcome.
C: Checking everyone's technique and giving pointers to make sure they caught fish.
D: Mugging the last guy who caught a fish.

It was great to fish with you guys. (and Kimmy) She's one determined fisher person.

The only down side is: When can I get some more of the BBQ from Steve?

i had a great time, thanks to LAB for putting this together. as mentioned before, it was a slow bite, but with this crew, you pay for the show- the fishing is a bonus.

things i learned today.
1) smokey joe (tom) makes killer BBQ-top notch-excellent-really, really good
2) never, i repeat, never fall into a deep sleep with this crew!!!!!
3) mickrazz, with all his threats to punch everyone in the nose is actually nice guy and makes good stew.
4) capt and crew of the MIMI are top notch (thanks kenny and chris)
5) NJ Fishing is a good bunch of guys and gals
6) Lab gets seasick
i was a pleasure fishing with all aboard and putting more names and faces together. lab- i hope you didn't get too queazy seeing "ALS"- it was friggin cold man!!!

Life's A Beach

Points of reference:

1. Staying in the SUN was the top priority; mugging was a close second!

2. I do NOT get sea sick because I wear a patch to PREVENT getting sea sick. The seas don't scare me, it is the NJFISHING.COM CREW that scares me. Can you imagine the pics if I was caught tossing chunks? Fageddaboutit!

3. Seeing that snot run from ALS's nose to UNDER his chin WAS GROSS. I felt like I had a little kid again; I was gonna wipe his nose.

4. Seamstress Steve keeps his shrimp semi-frozen so it's not edible as used for bait.

Lab its ok with me if you wear a patch so you dont get seasick, especially when the ocean looks like a pond with a slight breeze at least you didnt wear the hat with the pom pom on it and yes I have a purple hat. Looking forward to next time maybe Lab will run part 3 when there are some fish around.

I "no" Smokey Joe's odds were too low

yes i have been in a slump the last couple of weeks but thats ok
have caught the big ones and more than one so let the games begin

I guess i have to challange you "The Man Myth Legand"
to a Fish off
not nov dec or next year but in delaware in Feb

1. winner pays for trip (Boat fee)
2. tee shirt stating that the loser is his fishing bitch winner designs and loser pays has to be worn on all blackfish trips which the two are on
3. bottom line of personal post that the named loser is the winners bitch

My fellow toggers watch the bullshit fly and the excusses begin

he may even have SOMEONE punch me in the nose or break my harms:eek:
Thats ok i have to better my odds with the odds maker this is the only way
it can be done

[QUOTE=mickrazz]A good, stable, environment....the statement of the year.
If you weren't there, then you're not going to get it, but it was priceless.

Mick-
I think I'm in the loop on this one. LAB responded with a jaw dropping comment when you asked me about some girl that I know. If there was a statement worse than that and I missed it, please let me know!

Tats

She may be MY DAUGHTER but she's Still a woman. You were just surprised to hear me tell it like it is.

Smokey Joe - I ain't fishing down there so you'll have to come up with something else. Sorry. Ain't duckin' ya but I'm not driving 3 hours each way to roll the dice again. It bad enuf catching a LAB LIMIT out of my home town but I refuse to waste the time/gas/money going down there for the same results. (that said, if I got MY limit........I'd only beat YOU by ONE FISH; BITCH)
