On June 15th, 2013 Mayor John McCormac hosted his 5th annual Woodbridge Township Fluke Tournament. There was 47 boats registered, and of those 47 boats, Captain Paul Kaessler of Colonia, along with his crew consisting of Bill Merritt of Boundbrook, Gary Golembeski of Westfield and Paul Popadotas (Uncle Paulie) of Iselin netted the winning fish on Paul's boat Wild Reels.
Popadotas was the one who had the 15 minute long fight with the fluke and once it was brought up to the boat, it came in at 13.2 pounds and 30 inches long. The doormat was caught with a Spro Bucktail along with a strip of sea robin. The weigh station was located at the Sea Warren ramp. This is the second time that the winning fish of the mayor's tournament was caught on Paul's boat Wild Reels.
Congrats to Paul, Uncle Paulie and crew.
