Fishing today was as good as it gets. Started fishing by 6 am in the river. Caught a few fluke and small blues. Made a run out to sandy hook bay and landed a 5.5 pound weakfish. What a fight on light tackle. Headed back in to pick up my buddy. Started at the weakfish spot and my buddy caught a 21" weakfish. Tide slowed down and headed out to sandy hook. The ride out was quick and flat calm. Started out slow but got some tide and had action every drift. Caught 4 keeper fluke and around 70 shorts. Two of the fluke were 3.5 and 4 pounds. Dodged the rain and storm. On the way in stopped at the five pound grounds and my buddy caught a ten pound striper. Right after i said this day cant get any better so we went home.
Congratulations Will! An inshore grand salami is no small feat these days especially with the weakfish shortage these past few years. You definitely put your time in and earned a day like this!

There were small ones around last year but no big ones. Seen and heard of some nice ones caught but what happened to those big ones 10 pounds and up. They are a cycle fish so that might explain it.

Nice variety. Weakies have such nice color right after they are caught!

Nice catch,it amazes me how many many people zip right by these areas to get to the reach and oceanside when a little hard work and a short ride is all that's needed.
