I go there every year for the fourth. Have only fished the beach. Nothing good happening there. This year I want to try to get on an open charter. I will be calling Rudy inlet in a few days to see if anyone has spots. It will be around 400-500$ from what I understand. That is full day , Mahdi, sails and tuna. I guess more species too but not sure. I really only want Mahdi and tuna.
I think the party boats do well sea bassing. Please keep me posted on anything you find out. I will do the same.

I fish out of there 5 or six times a year with a friend of mine on his boat. In the middle of June we typically head to Tower A for Amberjack fishing. I believe that is more NC than VA though. They are absolutely brutal with their power. You might find a six pack to take you down to it. We have caught tuna and mahi when we can find weedlines and the like.

Don't know that site all that well but Rudee is just south of the Beach itself ... reminds a little of launching out of Barnegat ... a little.

will peruse http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/5-Virginia-Angler
for information in the area about what's biting, where, and how.

All the best and tight lines!

Have fished of the beach in Sandbridge just below Virginia beach proper. We caught small spots and croakers and fileted them for shark bait! pretty good bite off the beach with 25 -35 lbs sharks! But you need steel leaders and than 60 lbs test mono leaders to prevent break-offs. But its strictly a night bite.

Went there last year on a family vaca looking to squeeze in a day or two.. Well the two party boats there were fishing for something ridicouls like crokers.. I looked at the catch which wasn't good at all. That was enough for me, I then looked at a charter.. It was like 150-200 for 4-6 hours for mahi... They have a 8 hour trip for tuna for like 300-400.. I didn't get a chance to go but when I was on the beach I saw one of the charter boats trolling around, pretty right to the beach and jetty and in a hour I didn't see one rod go off. Good luck
